How I would like Columbus radio to sound

92.3-Country
93.3-Mainstream Urban
94.7-Adult Contemporary
96.3-Classic Rock
97.1-Classic Hits
97.9-Top 40
99.7-Active Rock

98.9-Urban AC
105.7-Adult Hits
107.5-Gospel(I think gospel would do well if it were on a halfway decent signal)

95.5-Classic Country
101.1/103.1-Regional Mexican (I know this would never happen on account of OSU)
102.5-Alternative
103.5/104.3-Adult Standards
103.9-Radio Disney (I picked the formats for this station and 103.5/104.3 last. I ran out of ideas quite honestly.)
106.7/107.1-Gen X
107.9-Mainstream Dance/Top 40(Minus Rock Music)

Thoughts, suggestions, and feedback?

I'm with Dawg on this one. No Hot AC or Smooth AC in the mix (no pun intended).

Perhaps we should resurrect the thread from a few months back about which formats we want to see return.

And some of you thought I was going to mention another format, weren't you? :D

Well I'd like Holland-Dozier-Holland to be writing hit songs being recorded with the original Funk Bros (Benjamin and Jamerson being raised from the dead) but..not gonna happen

DA FU#$!

no urban rap!

or instead of mainstream urban!

do urban rap.

more colored folks music and less white folks music!

damn!

even kentucky radio stations are more street and gangsta than columbus!

Smooth AC? Well, it does do pretty well in all the big cities. All I hear about in radio is how the smooth ac stations are blowing up. Actually, I was in Chicago the other day, and all the people could talk about was there local smooth ac station. Boy, that smooth ac really does wonders for a stations' numbers. I can't believe we don't have one, or two for that matter. Also, I know 106.3 plays gospel. I think it should be on two signals. Why the heck not? I didn't mean that radio one should take the gospel format off of 106.3, and move it to 107.5. I meant that it should be on two signals. Minus the 103.5/104.3, and 103.9 formats, I didn't think it was that bad of a list. Okay, honesty time, I actually wanted 103.5/104.3, and 103.9 to switch to all Holland-Dozier-Holland music, but I was too embarrassed to put those formats down, and there's no format called "Urban Rap", but thanks for the suggestion. "Mainstream Urban is what rap stations are called. Hot 107.9 out of Atlanta is classified as a "Mainstream Urban".

What's smooth AC? Do you mean smooth jazz?

Shortly after Clear Channel blew up Chicago's smooth jazz institution, WNUA, someone started a new smooth jazz which is actually the audio for low-power TV channel 6. Does very well relative to the dial position and low power.

Could you mean urban AC? CC's Urban AC in Chicago, WVAZ, does very well. The other AC's there are CC's 93.3 WLIT Lite-FM, Bonneville's Hot AC WTMX Mix 101.9, and Bonneville's WILV Rewind 100.3 (which probably plays enough near-current music to be considered an AC).

But no "smooth AC" AFAIK.

Sorry, but unless the Wolf family sells 97.1, it will be nothing but ESPN Radio(I wish they'd still be Adult Top 40 like they were in their last month on the air myself). Speaking of which, I wonder how the Sports format will do with the PPM.

From a listener standpoint, The problem with almost every station is the lack of playlist.
A playlist should be thousands of songs, not hundreds. No reason a classic country station (or classic anything ) station should be playing the same song twice in a 24hr period.

Most people don't listen to radio stations for 24 hours straight. You can't get an audience to sit through obscure songs they don't know and like. You can carefully manage your library to not have songs playing in the same hours, etc. The answer is not just throwing titles against the wall.

92.3-New Country
93.3-Mainstream Urban
94.7-Adult Contemporary
95.5-Classic Country
96.3-Classic Rock
97.1-Oldies B97
97.9-Top 40
99.7-Active Rock (more like WEBN)
98.9-Urban AC or funk (I can dream)

101.1 - wtvn fm simulcast lol
102.5-Alternative
103.1 Mexican
103.5 - jazz
103.9-70s/Classic hits
104.3 - sports or talk
105.7-Adult Hits
106.7 90s
107.1-80s (more pop/less rock)
107.5-Rap
107.9-hot AC

610 News/talk - 18 hours a day of local talk around Limbaugh/Beck
920 - standards/big band
1230 - talk i guess, throw the non-local weekday castoffs from wtvn here
1460 - sports

Yes, I like decade channels.
