How is 106.1 The Path Tallahassee Doing?

I know this station flip many times so how are they doing on the path? If its not doing very well still (just saying) what would you like to have and see that would work for 106.1 to get people to listren more?

Louis,

It is ranked 12th out of the 14 rated stations in the market. However it is up since the last rating, so it has improved decently since then.

I know several people who listen to the station for Tim Donovan's jazz program that airs on Sunday mornings.

Best thing they can do is promote it better and leave the format as is for now. They need to quit changing it all the time and decide on a path to follow (pun intended.) The previous format of the year scenario will never build loyalty..because even if you like it now next year you won't.

Personally I don't care fir it, but I understand enough about radio to know that stations need time to develop, and promotion. This station is the stepchild of the cluster.

Ironically, I was an original applicant for 106.1, and lost. My pockets were too shallow.

I believe the station is doing very well. WQTL is the only station in the market doing what they do. Live broadcasts Friday night from the Mockingbird Cafe and Saturday night from the Bradfordville Blues Club, music outside of the top 40 or hits realm, and a format programmed to feel like you are listening to your old LP collection. I like it a lot!

Maybe I'm biased because they pay me...haha.

I, too, like The Path's mix of rock, blues, oldies, live versions, and other songs I've never heard or forgotten! I hope they survive. Between 106.1 and V-89 I get all the music I need! 106.1 seems to have a lot of advertisers.

Kinda looks like a 92zew Mobile type of format. They have a very loyal audience of listeners and advertisers.

I enjoy the station. Hopefully the new owners won't be quick to change it.

Looks like the new owner...kinda is the old owner....:). I listened to the Path last night for a few songs. There are no jocks, right? Do they always have a few seconds of dead air between songs? The music is good and sometimes interesting, but it was kind of lifeless. Is that a good thing?

There are jocks sometimes...I couldn't give you an exact schedule. The format is very "loose"...with pauses between songs being intentional...I believe trying to replicate listening to an LP?

For those of us that don't really care for top40 in any genre or decade, and prefer the jock jabber to be kept to a minimum...it's a nice alternative. Also...the weekend live broadcasts from local music venues and the Sunday morning show are great.

Nice to see someone going against the trends.

Tibbs..I think so. Looks like Hank Kestenbaum formed Red Hills in order to buy the stations from Opus. He's been around for a number of years, so maybe he will mostly leave things alone.
