I'm usually not up early enough to hear any morning shows, but the once or twice I had a chance to catch Nick, I did pick up on the fact that he's still adjusting from the oldies format. That was pretty early on though, so I don't know how much it's changed.
I usually hear it in the afternoons and late at night. I was surprised to hear the overnight guy give a time check one night. Had me wondering if he was there live, or if he just did a really good job guessing what time that particular voicetrack was going to air. But seeing as how they only have 2 stations and the other one is Radio Disney, a live overnight jock there wouldn't surprise me as much as if this were a ClearChannel property.
As for the music, sometimes the mix is great, other times it's a bit off. It sounds weird hearing a hot current, followed shortly thereafter by a 70's disco title. Considering the promo liners brag about how it's always upbeat and makes you feel good, I'm surprised that they still toss in the occasional slower tune.
Media_Man, I agree with you 50/50. The jingles and liners are great, and sometimes it seems like the library is too small. Seems like they're "platooning" ... some songs are in for the long haul, while a others are almost overplayed for awhile, then they disappear, only to be replaced by other songs.
The thing I don't agree with is the signal not being heard well outside of Syracuse. I can pick up 100.3 almost all the way to Utica, and I heard it for quite a ways west during a road trip that way last month. I don't know how far north or south it goes though... so I can't vouch for people commuting on 81 from the other side of the hills south of Syracuse. I also haven't really tried the 96.5 signal either. Haven't needed to since 100.3 comes in fine in the places where I'm usually listening.
