How live is KRLD

At the bottom of the 1:00 hour today David Ranken repeated the story about the Byron Nelson golf tournament moving to South Dallas twice. It was the lead story proceeding a CBS update about the Boston bombing suspects that were arrested today. Then it repeated after the CBS update again. So I'm wondering if their news is live or if some of it might be prerecorded and changed if something breaks. The story had an acctuality from one of the reporters out in the field which repeated as well exactly the same as the first time.

KRLD-AM is Live with a genuine, breathing, human being, live on the microphone in the studio. I'd be willing to bet you heard a long "teaser" for the Nelson story before the cut-away to CBS, followed by the full story on the other side of CBS...

Not live at all at the moment, I'm afraid. KLRD is down. No idea if it's maintenance or what.

On the plus side, I heard KAAY on 1090 for the first time in ages, and on 1070 I heard some station playing a classic Pat Benatar hit.

What you heard on 1070 was most likely KLIO Wichita, Kansas. Their format is 'oldies' and they have 10 kW days and while they only have 1 kW nights, their night pattern favors the DFW area. I have heard them, both during the day while driving near Durant, OK and at night here with KRLD nulled.

In the days before IBOC, KFDI now KLIO Wichita and KNX Los Angeles both 1070 and "The Mighty 1090" KAAY were regulars in my little patch of North Texas...Sure miss Beaker Street...
