How long before CC flips either 91X or Rock 105-3?

91X has been underachieving for a long time, and Rock 105-3 has taken a big hit in overall numbers since dumping Stern. (Is Mikey repeating history? KSJO's numbers took a big fall, too, while he was there.)

Granted, I have no clue what either station bills, but I'm guessing billing isn't as good as what it used to be. The market for the 18-34 year old audience (and also the male audience in general) seems a bit crowded in San Diego.

There are very few markets, if any, across the country that have as many rock-based stations as San Diego. I also cannot think of a single market outside of San Diego where Clear Channel sees a need to have 3 rock-based stations. Denver is one exception that immediately comes to mind They used to have 3 in Dallas, Houston, and San Jose -- but have since scaled back to two. In Miami, they now only have 1!

I think it's only a matter of time before CC takes either 91X or Rock 105-3 to a Spanish language format. What do the rest of you think?

With the great ratings CC is having in Northern California and Las Vegas with "La Preciosa", I wouldn't be surprised if they flip to that format in other markets. As far as San Diego is concerned, maybe they are waiting to spin off some stations before they make any format changes.

They'll definitely wait to divest those stations before there are any format flips. Maybe they can finally put 91X out of it's misery from the heritage station it was before Jim Richards was the PD. The building out for the new owners is happening at a furious pace. It can't be that long. Great job by Garret and the crew at 94.9 for the Spring Book. I only saw the 12 plus numbers but they looked good. Amazing what happens when people like who they're working for and are treated with respect.

Not likely. The X-stations are being spun off, announcement expected this week, Keyword "MG."

With 25 Spanish staitons in the market, I doubt they would want to do this after shedding the 99.3, 92.5, 90.3 and 99.1 signals, as well as 690 AM (already sold).

You're, of course, speaking of MG as someone to work for.

How 'bout flip 91X to AC as 91.1 Lite FM? They could compete with KYXY. If you want Hurban to go to the San Diego airwaves, Univision's KLQV (currenly Spanish hits) will flip to La Kalle, 'cuz Univision's now got the highest number of Hurbans. We've got enough Spanish stations already. Thank you. That could leave 91.7 as the only Spanish hits station.

90.3 and 92.5

And what about Z90 and Magic? Anyone have any dope on whether Luis will try and find another lease operator, or go back to trying to operate them himself?

Actually,
I'd like for some other group to take over one or two of the X's and trade them with 106.5 and 102.9. Then, either one of those could return in a heritage format (Q106 or KS-103).

Of course, that will NEVER happen!

There should be an announcement for all but 99.3 very soon. 99.3 may go to Grupo Prisa operating as Televisa Radio.

As has been said, "stay tuned."

Exa, Latina, Digital and Pulsar are all Spanish hits in one form or another.

The CCU stations, except 99.3, will stay English and in the same formats in all probability.

Rats.

That's too bad, but it's to be expected, I suppose. Kool is a much better programmed station (musically) than KRTH; they've replaced 101.1 as my Oldies station. It will be a loss to the market should they go away (as opposed to moving to another signal).

Soon. Moves have been made for the ch-change.

Expect the great CC-SD Bathroom issue to be closed very soon.

Because KMRichards requires it as part of my work release program ....
