How long can LIVE 105.3 keep doing this

Believe it or not, the station used to get business from blue chip advertisers. That station used to be my number 1 preset...it is sad.

Wow, this is the 22nd reply on this thread and not ONE mention of Jagger? It makes me wonder if he's not on this thread because it's mostly negative and he's the ONE positive at that place. Is his show the only thing worth listening to on that station, or does he just get completely overlooked because everyone is too busy blowing Russ..?

Well, how much profit does any company have to generate in a year before it can be described as having "blue chip" level earnings?

Some examples of commercial spots I heard during a RMS commercial break today are Whataburger, Geico, Honda, Corona Light, Subway Sandwiches, Dodge trucks, NBC (their fall TV lineup), and Compass Bank. Are they thought of more as a "bottom of the barrel" advertiser, or are they all more of a "blue chip" level company.

Jagger is worth listening to? Really? What does he bring? Maybe it is me, seems he has a lot of fans, but I just don't get it.

I was hoping that they would be losing advertisers left and right but when I have listened, it doesn't seem like that has happened. Still pretty much the same as the Ticket's.

the ad market moves slower than that. all of those clients are either out of town, use an out of town agency, or are national accounts. The buyers are buying rating points, based on old numbers. The other stations in the market should sufficiently bring the issues to light to prevent them from using LIVE heavily on future buying cycles, when the new ratings system arrives. I can assure you, if Whataburger knew their money was being spent on a woman beating, race humor artist..they would throw a fit. They dont allow their money to get near the Cowboys for not being "family friendly." They are in Corpus and have no idea what is going on.

I hate to burst your buble ccex, but I can tell you with confidence that they ARE losing billing. I could (but won't) name 3 clients that I will not place on that station because the numbers don't justify it anymore AND because they don't value me as a listener.

Mediasup ... Since you just created your account today there is a lack of credibility. Just because KLLI doesn't seem to value you as a listener shows your lack of knowledge as an agency/buyer. Advertising is about results. Numbers are a way of agencies to beat up stations, nothing more. Good luck.

Charlie, your correct in this, they usually pull from 2-3 books in the past and trend them. Speaking of advertisers on KLLI, they've dropped quite a few in the afternoon drive slot...you dont hear the same balance of regional/national to local anymore.

CCEX are you suggesting that the duration of someones time on the board is somehow linked to their credibility? This is a forum for us to post and vent...no one here has any credibility! I think media brought up a good point...and last i checked numbers are an indication of who is listening, not an advertising agency tool for beating up a station. lighten up.

You all bring up pretty interesting points. And I agree with most. I use ratings to buy media as a "part" of the strategy, because it IS outdated by the time buys come down. The other part is by gut, it has to be. Can I really be the only listener out there who has been offended and turned off by the actions of LIVE 105.3? Clearly, they don't care about the listeners, advertisers need to be in an environment where their message is well recieved. Ben & Skin are part timers (fill ins) from the ticket....What makes them suitable as prime time replacements? I enjoyed P&K, I don't agree with their departure either...and I haven't forgotten about the Stern, Roth, O&A debacle either...I can't be the only one....am I?

Media...you seem really frustrated. My job is not related to any radio station. I am just a listener...but no, you are not alone. I sit at my desk and stream the station, and I can tell you...I have really enjoyed the Wild Ass Circus...I will have to find another station to listen to...

like the recently neutered russ martin...way to show up on monday after live 8 russ, real team player.

In the past RMS has traditionally taken Monday off following a Live event. Probably nothing to do with being a "team player" but simply could be a contract or vacation thing.

Or perhaps just a laziness thing. Or recovering from a hangover.

I think its a mix of all three, Pee-Paw JD The Grand Dragon needs time to sleep after these things, Russ needs to sober up and the rest of the lackeys need time to catch up on their mundane task.

As long as your "clients" are getting results, do your personal tastes have any relevance?

C- your arguments lack objectivity. I think what Media is saying, is that they 1. feel like as a listener, they don't matter and 2. they have the ability to do something about it...THAT is a problem for the fine folks at Live...I am just a desk-jockey, I don't have the ability to make my feelings known...Media does...good for them, and it looks like it will hit them where it hurts...in the pocketbook.....And, don't you think that is related to an advertisers "results"?

funny, just read the note from Pugs and it really makes me wonder:
1. How is it that they (live) couldn't find a way to make Pugs and Kelly happy?
2. Why hasn't someone at that station gotten Russ under control?
3. How do you put a fill in show in a prime time spot?
4. Rick Dees doesn't live in Dallas (does he?) how can HE recognize Big Dick and Gavin/ David Henry cannot?
5. WTF?

Someone is asleep at the switch, I feel a train wreck a comin!

can anyone dispute, except ccex, that 1053 keeps making HORRIBLE programming decisions? SU Ph 1 released and another move down. That is because the listeners don't like it... advertisers have and will continue to follow.

1. P&K, eventhough im not a fan, handled up on their business accordingly. Spittle probably refused to offer them more money, plus trying to micromanage their product, is what drove them away.

2. RMS is its own franchise, he's an arrogant a-hole, but also cunning in his business dealings.

3. Thats a good question, B&S arent too shabby, but people in this market want more than they really deserve, this is Dallas, not NYC or LA. These two are a good fit and people should just suck it up already.

4. BDH is about one of the only talents that was left at the station that didnt annoy or beat you down with tired redneck schtick. Rick "Disco Duck" Dees can recognize quality when he sees it, im only shocked BDH wasnt offered something much sooner.
