How long till the O&A virus invades the valley

Seeing how O&A have invaded the west coast now, how long before KZON adds the virus??? I still think they should plug em in LIVE from NYC 3-6am for the time being and then who knows what might happen with my man Carolla.
 
Why would you waste O & A from 3- 6 am?
I bet they replace carrolla before the years up.

I'm waiting for the post from the Wolf saying (as angry typing guy) THEY SHOULD REPLACE BIG O AND DUKES, ANYTHING IS BETTER THAN THEM.

Then I'll laff, and laff, and laff if that happens, and Wolf realizes the danger of being careful what you wish for.

I could see O&A being live 3a-6a, and then replay 6a-9a, much like Stern was back in the day in Los Angeles.

CBS is already showing they are willing to pull Rover for a more successful show... but we'll see what happens.

If (and probably when) your buddies [Big O and Dukes] have a lousy book, don't be surprised when it's not just Wolf calling for their departure from FreeFM. Hopefully CBS gives them a package before giving them the boot. Really, almost anyone who replaces Phil Hendrie's slot is doomed to failure...at least in that time slot. How do you follow someone like Phil without the inevitable comparison? Big O and Dukes may develop and grow an excellent show over time. But I doubt they get more than one ratings period to prove themselves.

No ratings? No mun. No fun. Too bad. So sad. That's life!
 
They're a freaking NIGHT SHOW! Who the hell boots a night show after ONE BOOK?

AM or PM drive, fine, I can understand that. But I've never heard Phil Hendrie. Heard OF him, yes, but never heard the show. Hell, I haven't even heard Big O and Dukes lately.

You absolutely cannot boot a nighttime personality-driven talk show after one three month book.

I've asked this multiple times now. WHO DO YOU WANT IN THAT SLOT? If Big O and Dukes are a complete and total failure, then yes, put O&A on in that slot in tape-delay, and then figure out what to do with the extra hour. But if Hendrie is such a tough act to follow, are there any other possibilities?

Do you remember Scott Conner on KFYI...night show host? I don't think he even last one ratings period. Ratings equal advertising dollars. It's that simple. If Big O and Dukes can't boost ratings ($$$), then I don't expect CBS to sit on their hands and wait for them to get better. My first boss in radio told me a DJ's job was, "...to make money for the owner(s)."

Now, who would I put on? Jim Sharpe would be my first choice. He is a great talk host, knows the valley and I think could pull off a successful night show on FreeFM. My second choice would be Greg Paul...not as experienced, but someone who I think could make it work.

As for O&A, I wouldn't put them on anything but AM drive. Why bury a cash cow at night?? It just doesn't make sense.

You said something very telling in your reply: "Hell, I haven't even heard Big O and Dukes lately." Sadly, I think a lot of the target demographic are saying the same thing. And that, Starscream, is exactly how bad books are born.
 
Jim Sharpe and Greg Paul are both excellent talk show hosts...and great guys to boot. Why doesn't free fm move Pete Cummings from weekends to nights? Couldn't be any worse than whats on the air now..my guess is..it may be a little better.
 
Would make sense to have O&A on morning drive. Great show. Two guys talking about ...........'guy' stuff. Ripping on other rado stations is what they do best. Some may disagree with this philosophy but it works for O&A. It also gives the listener a true sense of what this buisness is all about .
