How long will it last?

Viewers of Castle and Bones notice the sexual tension between the characters. Yet, and the smart thing by the way, neither show has allowed Castle and Beckett or Booth and Brennan to take their relationships to a different level.

History has shown time and time again once certain television characters have taken that step towards a more romantic relationship that it has a negative impact with the audience thus ending in the cancellation of the show and most certainly a decline in viewership.

The producers of both shows walk a thin tightrope if their characters become romantically involved. Besides audiences seem to enjoy the concept of "will they or won't they" versus they did; if you get my meaning?

Bones, which has been on the air longer than Castle, has overplayed this scenario a few times.
First it was Booth who desired Brennan. This season Brennan expressed her feelings for Booth only to be told that he loves another woman.

As for Castle, it appears that while both Castle and Beckett have deep feelings for each other, neither wants to risk their professional status as a team investigating murders. Although Castle did tell Beckett the only reason (now) that he investigates crimes is just to be with her and not to perform research for his books.

I've noticed that too. I've been trying to get back into watching that show this season since "Thirteen" isn't there. Don't care for that character at all. I wished Amber would have stay around instead of "Thirteen" but I'm going off-topic here.

I use to be an avid House viewer; but no longer. It's not that House has mellowed as much as the formula of the show is the same. Patient comes in with an unknown illness; doctors try multiple treatments to find the cause of the illness; and either the patient lives or dies. After a while this gets kind of stale.

Besides I think that Hugh Laurie is getting tired of the role. He doesn't seem "as into it" as he did years ago.

To clarify in my last post, I meant the character Amber Volakis. Not the actress Amber Tamblyn who has been guest starring on House lately.

"Moonlighting," anyone?

The show was never the same afterward. However, I'm sure the clashing egos didn't help, either.

What's Cybill Shepherd doing now? We're pretty clear on how her costar's career has gone.

I think she married some chiropractor and settled down... Haven't heard from her since her sitcom went off the air...

It didn't work on that show, ergo, for decades after, it must mean it will never, ever work again. ::) Perhaps it was a mistake for that show, yet not every single series to ever be made in the history of the medium. ;)

What's one where it's worked and the show has gone for several more seasons?

Somebody said Chuck had a start.
What's another, long-term one?
Love Boat doesn't count. :D
