how long will the "KID" last

I know he is not happy, I know YSP's mgmt does not really want him on board, his contract must be tremendous to buy out. YSP wants the music intense theory on everyones mind and does not want talk, I noticed to my surprise the Eagles spots are short and not a major tool on YSP's agenda, like they were on the other Rock formats they had. If the Eagles did not draw big on the air I would speculate YSP dropping them and shoving them to WIP, but they bill too well on YSP for that to actually happen. YSP is moving for the intense music road, I think if they do hire jocks they will be mostly card reading quiet types not what YSP had before. So I do think Kidd's days are numbered, just my opinion. YSP will Rock and not Talk, same as RFF, two great stations. Now if YSP would play some hair metal and RFF would bring back Creed and Nickelback.

Kidd wants nothing more than to work with Howard. Now with 1/2 his staff axed, he will make the move. Ever notice how he faked a friendship with O&A(Stern clones)?

I heard from a good source in the industry who tells me that they will not renew O&A and Kid Chris will go to mornings and possibly Couzin Ed will be back in the afternoone slot.....Stay tuned

gonna try and pretend you didnt just say that.

but an email was sent out yesterday to the kidd chris mailing list that his show's current format will stay for 90 days (to emphasize that "the rock is back"), then it will return to the way it was. He is locked in there until August, FWIW

Kidd Chris said on the air that the music is only temporary until they establish that the rock is back. This is a very good for all Kidd Chris fans. He did not say how long it would take to establish the rock, but it does say 90 days on his wikipedia for what it's worth.

NO NICKLEBACK just creed

he was on a rock station before I don't see why he would not want to stay, he was on 102.7 krock in San Antonio

Yes, he was on a Rock station, wysp was The Rock Station when he joined. Hopefully, once the surge of music passes, Kidd Chris can return his show to what is was b4 the format flip.

Would seem like a bad move to keep him around jsut to spin records unless he was part of the future. Yes he might be under contact, but so were all the other people that were fired. Moreover, if they had no use for him would make sense to part ways sooner rather than later.

On 9/17/07 Michael Klein posted the following in his forum on philly.com (Phila Inquirer)

Question:
Do you think WYSP should stop calling the shift between 3pm and 7pm "The Kidd Chris Show"? It's not the show he's developed in this market (and built an audience with). Maybe the name should be changed to "Afternoons with Chris" because it sure doesn't sound like "The Kidd Chris Show" today. Will we hear Merrill Reese playing rock music tonight between plays during the football game? After all, "The Rock is Back!" Sorry to rant, but again... Should they change the name of the 3-7pm shift?

Answer:
Program director John Cook just told me that the Kidd Chris show will revert to its personality focus. He's trying to rebrand the station with rock, and feels that more music is the right way to go for now.

From what I observed, RFF is on more radios in the morning than MMR and YSP combined. Who says talk is the way to go in mornings, RFF proves that some people want to hear music with their lox and bagels, not yakking. Please dont tell me they are even considering Couzin Ed, bad move, I thought he was on the left coast doing his thing. If the Kidd show drops the music and reverts back to its original vulgar format, kiss YSP good bye 4-ever. The music is what is going to make a comeback for them, now mornings and afternoons will be talk, bad move.

To quote Foghorn Leghorn "...some of the things that come out of that boy's mouth!" Strikingly curious about RWS's background or motives here. The things he says just really have no validity. They make no sense. Is he someone who just does not fully understand radio, someone who has been ousted by radio, a part-timer in radio who just does not have what it takes to make it full time, someone in a small market who wants to work in Philly but just can't get a gig, or just simply a bitter and jealous person with bad taste?

His love for Nickelback and Creed aside. Set aside his love for passionless cookie-cutter, card reading jocks who, just from listening too, obviously either do no prep or don't really know anything about the bands they play...Keith Young, Frank Lario, etc. But, now he says YSP considering Couzin Ed would be a "bad move?!?!" If we all look back with an unbiased frame of mind, before the YSP talk "experiment", Couzin Ed was their rock (bad use of that word there) after Howard. Besides Eagles and Howard, he was the face of the rock portion of the station, and consistently drew #1 ratings in the desired male demos. Now, if YSP is going back to when they were an unstoppable juggernaut of a rock station, all road blatantly point to Couzin Ed. Fan or not, RWS, he got the job done. Personally, fan or not, when it came to artists interviews, no one comes close to his.

But, then again, maybe RWS is right. What YSP needs to did them out of the gutter is mindless drones introducing Nickelback. The rise from the ashes should be swift.

LBoogie- If ya wanna fit in say they need Barsky and his failed ratings again!

BTW: I emailed WRFF and told them I would stop listening if they junked up my morning Rock with him. I know his 1982 song parodies are wacky- but enough!

According to Michael Klein, in the last book (which included RFF) Preston and Steve had the largest overall audiEnce in the morning in Philadelphia. They double KYW's morning audiEnce, which was second, and tripled MGK's morning audiEnce, which was 3rd, overall. YSP's O & A, and the all music RFF in the mornings don't even put a baby scratch in P & S's ratings. According to the ratings (not just the 12+) talk is the way to go in the mornings, if it is done right.

If YSP is going to talk all morning and talk all afternoon soon, they why promote "the Rock is Back" trying to fool the public with the music intense theme. Because the important dayparts will be filled with bull-crapola. In a sense, if YSP does this, they are cheating, lying and fooling the average listener. To you my friend, Couzin Ed is minor league at best, not average, not even funny or witty, just your typical, pompous, vulgar mouthed, kiss management butt jock, nothing special, a dime a dozen.

You should send that information to the FCC and make sure that merger never goes through...and then tell them that you think YSP should provide refunds to their subscribers. Such corporate scum fooling people like that...

RWS, your opinion, or should I say, an individuals opinion, is essentially meaninless when it comes to radio...or any business. The point is, Ed got guaranteed ratings in the male 18-49 year old demos when they played rock. Whether individuals like him or not is irrellevant. He was/is the best rock jock this city has had in years. Name one person who can even come close to an entertaining artist interview, ratings, or rock knowledge. And, please, do not ruin your credibility once again by saying Keith Young or Frank Lario.
