How long will the music last...

I heard they are going to can it by the end of the year, thus be talk 24/7. I guess they will spoon feed us a part-time, token, rock product for a few more months, then shut the door. I cannot believe in this market, which always embraced rock for decades and gave birth to most of the Rock we hear as classics, is down to a station, where we have to sit through some talkative, ancient jock, putting a needle to an LP almost 40 years old.

I agree, it's absolutely pathetic.

In Baltimore, Infinity has kept the music on nights and weekends at its FM talker (LIVE 105.7, the "reborn" WHFS) all year. So I wouldn't be surprised if the music stays put at WYSP.
As others have pointed out on this board, keeping a semi-rock format prevents another station from moving in. The idea is that the station is evolving into a young male lifestyle station, with their brand of both talk and music (and, in YSP's case, pro football). Yes, it sucks if you're a music fan, but that's what satellite is for.
