How long can WPTF survive with an overall AQH of 0.9 and cume of 36,600?
The answer will most likely depend on the answers to a couple of related questions, both of which are, as of yet, not public knowledge:
1) How long are advertising agencies willing to pay for advertising on the station; and
2) How long is the station's owner (Curtis Media Group, if memory serves) willing to support the station and its format with revenues it gets from the other stations, particularly the FM stations, it owns in the Raleigh market.
The second question is more crucial in that CMG also owns two AM music outlets in the Raleigh area (WKIX at 850 kHz and the classic rock station at 570 kHz whose callsign I forget now). IHeart does have an FM talker in the same area so it is possible we may be seeing WPTF changing formats sooner rather than later. (But what do I know? As
@fybush pointed out on another prediction thread, outside of himself and some of the staff, nobody posting on this Board, including yours truly, has any real knowledge of the behind-the-scenes goings-ons and these people are not going to post that info until they get the go-ahead from their contacts to do so.)
