How many barter services do you have?

Hey fellas, I'm curious...how many barter spots for morning prep and/or other services do you run? I work in Memphis and have to clear 9 different services which seems like a whole lot. Am I wrong?

Yow! You gotta wonder what else are they trading out?
I run 4. Two for prep, one for production library, and one for research (BDS)

I just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me. Every time I mention to our morning show that we may pare down our prep they whine to the PD. I have 1 for some online fx, and pretty much the rest is for the morning show. Hopefully this can change.

On a slightly different topic, how many of you are dealing with Westwood One barter agreements?

WE carry ALL of the MJI Imaging kits and prep services. It's a corporate deal for the whole cluster.<P ID="signature">______________

You name it... Westwood One, MJI, Bitboard, ACN. I can't even count the number of barters I run between both stations.

My gripe with Westwood One is they don't put ISCI codes on their spot schedule. That goes against both logic and common sense.

Well, I have 9 services along with WW1. I would think at the very least they could piggyback the spots for you. God almighty. They have debt consolidation services, maybe some-one can come up with a "prep-consolidation service." All I'm saying is that when I'm trying to image 2 stations and do prod for 3, I hate having to spend 4 hours a week just grinding out barter spots. This is basically a venting area for me. But for the love of all that is just and holy, if I have to hear another Autozone spot I may take hostages.

Whew, I feel better now.

That's absolutely crazy. I'm surprised your GM and/or your GSM aren't going ballistic about how much of their available stopet inventory is being eaten up by barter spots. If they could have been sold, that's money down the drain.

I feel your pain there friend. What I do is put alot of the spots into our Automation system (you know which ones run over and over again...Auto Zone, Geico, ONDCP...) and call them up when I need them. I put them in their own category and give them names that I'll know (usually with the ISCI code as part of the name of the spot). Then I just create the piggyback spot without having to listen to "more Ovaltine please" 800 times a week! The spots that have a definite end date (Kohls, JC Penny) I will log accordingly, but alot of these spots are TFN, so I just sort of archive them. Once every so often, I go in and if I haven't used a spot in months, I'll delete it. If I need it again later, I can always put it back in the system. It really saves me a tremendous amount of time dubbing these off.

Hope that helps.

It is nuts. For instance I use audioclipboard which can pretty much fill the same need as the "about last night" service in that they both post pertinent audio from the evening before. Asking our over-powerful morning show to change to audioclipboard from Xprep or something just sends their world into a psychotic hallucination and I can literally see their lower lip quiver at the notion. This is theraputic to me. Thanks all.

How about 24+? Okay, granted, that is for a five station group. We actually have a guy who does all of the barter. He doesn't really do other production, just hundreds of barter spots for all of our stations. Thank God for him.
