How many formats have been used at 780AM

How many formats have there been at 780AM in Madison County.

When I first heard the station, it was easy listening in the daytime and classical music at night - exept it was all easy listening on Saturday and all classical music on Sunday.

Then, it switched to hard rock.

Then it was a black-themed talk radio station. (Rick Whitow was a local host. It also carried "The Black Avenger." There was a local woman who also hosted a show.)

Then it went to inspirational talk - a lot of exerts of Zig Zigler speeches were carried.

Then, it was an oldies rock-and-roll station.

Then, Southern Gospel.

Then, a big-band-type memories station.

Then, a Spanish/Latino station. (The dancers at the IBC loved this.)

Then, a talk station for women.

Then, it became God's Country - playing Christian music by County and western stars.

How many have I left out?

Blues 780 was my all time favorite, but they were over modulating or had messed up audio
They also changed call letters several times. First WYAI-simulcast of Rock102 and later WEQZ 101.7. then WLRM-Motivational. I don't remember it playing classical, but 101.7 did when it was WDGN (?) in Canton. WIIN used to be the call letters of 98.7. They have also simulcast 101.7, 96.3, 98.7 and even Miss 103 by accident many times. Apparantly when 101.7 would go off the air during a power failure the tuner that was feeding the 780AM transmitter would retune itself to 102.9 putting Miss 103 on AM. And they aren't even affiliated with Miss 103. On top of that a few times they forgot to turn off the transmitter and you would get Miss 103 all night on AM. I guess they were sorta giving Miss 103 a little free air-time. A similar thing used to happen at WJNT usually during Rush Limbaugh. Rush would suddenly and abruptly be replaced with loud rock and roll from 94.7. The first time it happened It left me scratching my head. I thought someone was going nuts. Must have been some sort of gremlin in the studio-transmitter link. You can hear some strange things on the radio if you listen enough. Especially at night when nobody is there.

I can explain that one... WJNT and WTYX were very close frequency-wise on their studio-transmitter links. When WJNT was LMA'ed and moved to Highland Village, it would occasionally lose the very old and cranky Marti STL transmitter. When it happened, WJNT's STL receiver would lock on to WTYX. WJNT changed their STL frequency when they moved to Lakeland Drive, so the problem went away for good then.
