How many of ya'll can pull in Beaumont?

I was just wondering how many can pull in Beaumont stations? I can pull them in most all of them on a regular bassis out at Lavaca county with my antenna about 20' up pointed to Houston,,, I really like Q94, Like the Houseparty that they do over the weekends, with dance pop dance remixes and hiphop remixes, I wish they also would do the mega mix that is after that. I think the top 40 station in corpus does the mega mix as well. Rock 106.1 KIOC is pretty good as well. Does anyone know if any of them are in HD yet?

I don't know if "Big Dog" is HD yet, but probably not. I know there was some issue with KIOC downgrading awhile back, and that may have delayed an HD launch, but that's just speculation on my part.

As far as pulling in stations consistently, from North Loop and North Freeway (610 @ 45) I can pick up KIOC, KQXY, KCOL, KYKR, KKMY and KAYD without much trouble. Of course, technically speaking, KQBU, KFNC, KQQK and KTJM are Beaumont stations as well and those are pretty easy to get here, being Houston rimshots.<P ID="signature">______________

No Beaumont stations in HD so far.

Not IBOC anyway...KOLE and KRCM is running Kahn's CAM D but noone can listen to it since there are no CamD rcvrs (just like no Kahn ISB rcvrs 20 yrs ago ;)
As for IBOC, forget it for a while...knowing the BPT market, I seriously doubt anyone will spend the money on it...The BPT rimshots for Houston MAY do it before the stations trying to cover BPT do...but hell, CC cant get their audio right on KCOL (too compressed and clipped! Almost sounds like an AM!....KIOC doesnt sound bad but its been better) and if you think they would spend money on IBOC for their stations, forget it..Cumulus would likely beat CC in the BPT market...but remember we ARE talking market 134...compared to Houston being 6 or 7 depending on who is telling the number....Expect LFT or other larger markets to have IBOC online 1st (I REFUSE to call it HD...it is NOT compared to TV's use)

No real advantage for them to even be using IBOC, although they claim less static and dropouts (such as underpasses) with their broadcasts.

CC needs an engineer in BPT. I know KCOL is an oldies station, and most of us were used to listening to these songs on AM when we were young and stupid, but the KCOL-FM broadcast doesn't have to sound the way is currently does. Too many mistakes being made by CC in production and sound quality, but when there are only two companies owning stations in your community, this is the mediocre broadcasting you get. No competition breeds mediocrity and formulaic programming - no one takes any chances.

There is error correcting and some delay in the rcvr so you dont have dropouts when going under overpasses, etc....of course if you sit under one for a while, your time is up ;) just like a sat rcvr...

Amen to that!! CC does have a new engineer who replaced the former Chief..I understand he is from up north but thats it....Noone in the market knows much about him...as for production/etc, yes, they have been sucking.....with CC and Cumulus owning the market (and I hardly listen to the Cumulus stations in BMT since they dont appeal to me), that sucks....pity...back in the 70s, there were more owners, more competition and better quality....radio was fun then but it didnt pay well...now it may pay better (but not much) but it sure as hell is not fun!
