How Many PBS Stations Will Run Pledge Breaks During "Sixties Week"?

Next week (September 26th-29th), PBS will broadcast several programs dealing with the 1960's. Two of the programs, "No Direction Home" (a two-part "American Masters" about Bob Dylan, airing on the 26th and 27th in most areas and directed by Martin Scorsese), and "Best Of The Beatles" (airing in two parts, on September 28th and 29th in most areas) are sure to draw many more viewers than "standard" PBS fare.

Given that these two programs will likely be major audience draws, I wonder if at least some PBS stations will run these two programs with pledge breaks.

If they do, it may mark the beginning of a new era for PBS where the premiere broadcast of any special program likely to draw viewers will be accompanied by on-air pledging.

Only if they were produced with pledge breaks in them. I don't believe these two programs are part of that.

Wrong. It's been done before.

I asked:

> If they (PBS) do (run pledge breaks during upcoming specials about Bob
> Dylan and the Beatles), it may mark the beginning of a new era for PBS

XL replied:

> Wrong. It's been done before.

I was not talking about programs produced spefically for pledge weeks.

However, XL, do you know of any examples that you can share??
