My experience has been that radio stations put restrictions on the number of endorsements that one personality can do at a time. Usually the limit has been 3-4, and the ad buy has to be very substantial and lengthy to get a major personality to do an endorsement. The reason of course is to give the personality some credibility so that his/her endorsements will be successful.
Maybe it's just my impression, but Neal Boortz seems to be doing more than 3 or 4 endorsements. I'm always hearing him. And yes, he always relates the product to his experience, i.e. "I just moved into my new home and have a theater," which of course convinced him to get Comcast Cable.
Is the lure of money in this tough economy causing stations and personalities to risk hurting their credibility?
