Same here. After 15 years of living in South Florida, it took a move to North Carolina for me to hear anything out of Canada, let alone Toronto itself.
______________

I have picked up WLS from Chicago.

all the years I DX-ed in Miami Beach, I have never heard anything from Canada with the possible exception of CHML-Hamilton. I can not even remember a specific time I got CHML.

So have I. I've also nabbed WBT, WINS, WSB (no shock there), WABC and WCBS. Nothing further north than that, though.
______________

My last Florida DXing experience was in the 80s, but I heard CKLW in Gainesville, but as far as other Canadians I don't remember. Certainly 940 Montreal and 740 Toronto shouldn't have been impossible. WLS used to boom into Sarasota, especially around sunset. The couple of times I was in Miami it seemed difficult to hear anything from the north, even WABC, WCBS, etc. I think I heard more Spanish than English.

I have heard CFRB and CHNS, but not on their medium wave frequencies.
Does anyone know if CFRX still simulcasts with a kilowatt on 6070 and if CHNX uses 500 watts on 6130, both in the forty nine meter band. I could hear CFRX fading in and out all day, when I lived near Washington, DC.
______________

Last I was in Sarasota, 'LS boomed in like crazy at night. Most of my DX experience in the state, though, was from Miami where I lived. WABC and ACBS were difficult, yes, but like you said, they were there all the same. Can't say I ever heard CINW until I moved to Michigan... even after my move to North Carolina, I never picked it up. I'd heard 740 a couple of times from NC, and it's a regular in MI, but I'd never heard it in Miami.
______________

Last I heard CFRX was still around.

Radio Bonair in Nederland Antilles is or was on 800AM. I think their transmitter is around 500Kw. The furtherst south I ever listened to CKLW was in Georgia.

When I lived in Miami Beach, WABC, WCBS and WLS were not a problem. I listened to WABC when I awoke, then switched to WLS after sunrise. I was able to get them until about 7:15 or 7:20AM during the school year.

Its actually Trans World Radio in Bonaire, at one time 525 kW but from what I undestand, now 100kW.

But for some reason, I was able to get 50Kw CKLW in Georgia. There must have been some directional bias in the TWR-Bonaire signal. With that much "juice" I would expect to hear them loud and clear into the midatlantic states.

The 500 kw signal was directional, with nights aimed mostly at South America, including Portuguese for Brazil in overnights.

I'm guessing that the current signal on TWR is still directional, I haven't heard it in the states in a long time. Also, I can't hear much of that signal in Puerto Rico when I travel there (although admittedly, a lot of it might be drowned out anyway by the 50Kw on 810AM in San Juan. Still, I kinda expected to here it elsewhere in PR but can't get a strong signal at all there, just a few hundred miles north of Bonaire.

I used to pick up the 500kw signal in the midwest years ago, but I think that was a temporary thing.
