How much longer before Cox pulls the plug on X106.7?

Another month passes, another decline in listeners at X106.7. Any guesses what format Cox will put on 106.7 next?

Props to The Beat, Mix and KTFM. All saw an increase in listeners.

Also, listeners approved the recent music tweak @ Magic.

Maybe they'll make it urban (*real* hip-hop and r&b). That would be interesting...

No it will be the New X 106.7 Independant Live Local thus copying Austin's 101X. KISS will be a 93.7 KLBJ like clone and bill themself as San Antonio's Rock Station. Probally by New Years Day Why? KISS second incarnation as a Rock format will celebrate it's 20th Birthday. 1/1/1992-1/1/2002.

It won't be Urban.

What's interesting is that Top 40 radio rules the female demos(18-34) with KTFM leading the pack. With this being said, does Cox want a piece of the female demos or continue after the male demos? My guess....Top 40.

I've said it before, Cox already did top 40 and it tanked. I don't think they're going to try that again.

As for CHR, they could mimic Corpus Chrisi's 92.7 KBAY, a mix of classic and current CHR, like a more rhythmic version of Magic 105.3. There is definitely a demographic for that type of format in SA

Then again, with a surge in alternative music in SA, perhaps it's time for an alternative rock similar to 101X in Austin

They should simulcast KKYX 680 on 106.7.

No, they should buy KLEY or something, and simulcast KKYX on it. KTKX is too powerful of a signal to use for a small audience like the one that listens to classic country.

Maybe they can make a year-round Christmas station like Santa 106.7 was two and a half years ago!
LOL.

Why would Cox shoot themselves in the foot? BMP would most likely move it's La Ley to 106.7 to go after KXTN listeners.

Maybe Cox is looking to sell 106.7 to Liberman Broadcasting for a La Raza station?

As far as Classic Country, Country music is up in the ratings, but it would pick away at Y-100. What Cox needs to do is rearrange their stations something like this:

Move Y-100 to 99.5 as Y-99.5, for 100.3 make it Alternative as Alternative 100.3, for 101.1 make that Rock as Rock 101 KISS for 105.3 put the Oldies format back as Magic 105.3, and lastly for 106.7 make that KMIX 106 as Adult Contemporary.

All this talk about KISS reminded me of a dream I once had that KISS flipped to classic country and was dubbed "99.5 Classic Country" with jingles and everything and a weird mash of a Steve Wariner and Alabama song.

Everyone thinks these mashups are a new idea. The easy listening formats have been doing them forever. A classic example is Barbra Streisand and Judy Garland blending "Happy Days Are Here Again" and "C'mon Get Happy" back in the 60s.

This. My problem of mashups is that it could potentially shrink the size of the audience. One group might like a certain kind of music, another may like a different style, and the overlap of those who like both is less by default.
