How much longer til the Schnitt Show goes away?

Now that he's lost San Antonio, I doubt he's going to go through the effort of doing 2 shows a day for only so many stations. His morning show is probably the show he'd rather keep.

Didn't realize he lost San Antonio. I listen to small snippets of his show after work when the report on "All Things Considered" is not on an subject of my interest. He's not really bad, but his morning show is decidedly more entertaining.

Although he is Republican and conservative, his take on issues is generally more moderate than the other right wing zealots heard on WFLA.

It really surprises me that Clear Channel's Flagship station WOAI, itself a clear channel (type of station, not the company) would not be live and local in PM drive.
Schnitt is good, but what he talks about is more geared to Florida. I guess he's still on in Miami on WIOD? So far he has lost Orlando 540, Sarasota 1450, and now San Antonio.... BTW, Sarasota, is so much better off going it alone rather than a simulcast of 970. But they screwed up their news dept. We miss Grant Hudson. His style of news was great. Still had that style that made him so good on CKLW back in the late 60's. There's a great aircheck of Grant on reelradio.com as part of the CKLW news. Something about a woman being killed with a Louisville Slugger bat.....

They are live in PM drive, 4p-7p. They only ran the 3 & 4pm hours of Schnitt which was 2 & 3pm hours for them in CST.

Yes he's still on WIOD.

So far he

He is extremely high maintenance and impossible to work with. I can recall him sitting in the WFLA studio listening to the WIOD or WFLA 540 Orlando streaming audio to make sure the board ops in those markets were rejoining his show correctly or even with music he liked. If they didn't, either he'd be on the phone or tell me to call the board op or PD and find out why. Imagine if Rush Limbaugh or Glenn Beck did that.
______________

In radio some people always want to maintain a certain sound it seems. They want to keep some "edge" to theirself that is probably only visable to them. I'd work for Schnitt, and do the best I can to help him get that sound he wants, but we're all human - and some people may not want what he wants, and that's just the way it is, and will always be. Everyone is picky in a certain way.

If they did, their affiliates, many of which are just computers in a closet with no live bodies inside, might be forced to hire a few people, and their rejoins might resemble a segue moreso than the "clunk" with which automated stations usually join or rejoin their networks.

But that was because of a format change... isn't that station Spanish now?

And it's interesting that this evolved into a "syndicated" show at all. My understanding was that this show was created specifically for WIOD, and then since he was in the building and Beck was changing time slots, they put it on FLA as well. The rest were pretty much afterthoughts.
______________

My thinking is the show was not syndicated, since it ran on other CC stations, as it ran on WFLA, I would call it a simulcast. (Although, I think it did run on one of the stations via tape delay.)

It was. Now it's alternative.

If his show was doing good though it would've been saved. So format change or not, I still call it a loss. Phil Hendrie got moved to WGST.

God, that's funny. Him listening in to make sure his subordinates are doing everything right.

I guess he calls and complains a lot about 610. Every time I hear that station go out of a break into Schnitt's show, it runs over the show's starting music and regularly walks over it.

Schnitt/MJ needs to understand WHY we are getting tired of listening to him. He is entertaining and he does make some good points ... he needs to understand, however, that we listen because of the content of what he is discussing and it ISN'T ALL ABOUT HIM. I am quite tired of listening to him talk about himself. I am also tired of him saying "oh, we ran out of time, there was so much that I didn't get to cover." Well, he didn't get to cover it because he constantly repeats the same point over and over again by phrasing it several different ways. Maybe he needed to do that in the early days when he didn't have enough "talk" to fill up his show. Also, he needs to pay attention to what makes Beck and Hannity successful - when it comes time to do the phones and talk to the callers, Beck and Hannity actually let the callers do the talking ... they engage them in conversation. MJ/Schnitt makes it all about MJ/Schnitt - and its getting old - and I find myself turning the dial on him - often.
