How much longer will Nascar be on Y106.7?

Hi everyone. Does anyone know how much longer Nascar will be on Y106.7? Will it be the rest of the year or longer? It just seems like Nascar and oldies don't go together. In fact, Nascar seems more for an am station rather than fm. I am not a race fan and I miss my oldies when it has taken over. Thanks for your time.

"Nascar seems more for an AM station rather then FM?" where do you get that idea?

I've heard it on PLENTY of FM stations.. big ones too!

Funny because I kind of think that Oldies belong on the AM dial instead of wasting FM bandwidth. I believe the ratings indicated that also.

I may be in the minority but it just seems like any type of sports would be for am talk radio stations that talk all the time anyway not on fm stations that play music most of the time. Just my opinion.

That isn't surprising, coming from someone who probably doesn't like NASCAR and likes listneing to 106.7

Not an unbiased opinion I think.

I agree. Nascar is usually on one of the biggest signals in the market, although it's not usually on the highest rated stations in the market. But I'm from the south, I don't know how they do things up north... or out west. I don't think I've ever heard Nascar on an AM station.

WYAY is "True Oldies 106.7". They have not used the Y106.7 moniker since 2000. They were "Eagle 106.7" from 2000-2008.

I guess no one has also heard that the "Peach" changed its name and format recently. ;)

And the ratings for 94.9 bear that out... :)

Don't feel too bad...I sometimes catch myself referring to Star 94 and Dave as 94Q and Z93, respectively.

Rodney Ho has already confirmed on Access Atalnta that Nascar will no longer be on WYAY. I've even posted about it on here. Dallas Mc Cade who did the Happy Hour with Karen Gram from Fox 5 said last Sunday that it was their last show becuse with 106.7 not having Nascar doing the show was pointless because they used the show as a pre race show.

Wow, isn't Dallas the Master of the Obvious. I would have never guessed it was considered a pre-race show and that it would go away when NASCAR left the station.

Back in the day Nascar was on AM 590 when it had the WKHX Calls and owned by Cap Cities ABC even running a Tues. night Nascar show with Eli Gold. I'm not a Nascar fan but Joe Moore and I are old High School friends and got started in radio together in our home town of Wilmington, N.C. at am-1340 WGNI. Joe and I still stay in touch. BTW he's not a huge fan either but is a good job.

I believe that Tuesday night show is "NASCAR LIVE".

I was doing AM Drive (7am to 11am, later 6am to 11am) at one station and remember having to board-op the 1 hour live show one night when a board op couldn't come in. It wasn't so bad as I lived barely 1 block from the station.

Horrors! Does CurtisInPA know?

Also in something related radio-wise, what's up with 99x? They sound like a Hot AC.
