How Much Will You Miss Larry King?

His final CNN program is scheduled for tonight.

He's had quite a career that started on the radio side. What's the one segment or interview from him or his show that you'll always remember?

I liked his interview with Jerry Seinfeld in which Jerry actually took Larry to task on a few things:

Though as far as most recent memories is concerned, it would have to be a night in which Larry was not hosting his own show. Yes, who can forget when Falcon "Balloon Boy" Heene dropped a bomb on substitute host Wolf Blitzer that his family "did this for the show":

HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT...HELLO! :D

Seriously, the last time I saw him was in the cold open for Conan O'Brien's first TBS show. He convinced Conan not to jump off a bridge. It was some funny stuff!

I don't watch, so I'm probably not going to miss seeing him that much. Unfortunately for him, Top exectutives at CNN say the exact same thing. :D

Seriously... have fun in your retirement Larry. The guy has been on forever. So it will definitely be a void. I do like him and it's kind of sad to see him go. But like I said.... I don't even watch him anymore. I've seen him plenty in the last 30 years though. I knew about Larry before he even got to CNN. He has a comfortable laid back style of interviewing. I think that is what I'll miss the most. It's relaxing to watch him. Now all we'll have left is "in your face" interviewers like Bill O'Reilly. The type of hosts that give you a panic attack just by looking at them.

Won't miss Larry at all.
Not sure if I'm much of a fan of the replacement either, but oh well...

He was great in his day, but he stayed on too long. He should've retried while he was still on top and then came back to do specials every now and then.

I switch to Rachel Maddow when he comes on. She makes me think (Excercise for the brain :D )

Cheers :D

Nice send-off show tonight with some big names...Obama, Clinton, all three big three anchors, Trump, Mahr, Seacrest. There is no doubt King had a major impact, but I tend to agree it is time to go. Best wishes, Larry.

King was good because he let you talk and reveal yourself. When you go on O'Reilly or Hannity or Hardball, the hosts are determined to not let 10 seconds pass without getting back on camera. King never did that. You'll notice how long some answers are from guests, which is revealing. He also kind of plays it down the middle of the road politically, which almost no one does today (sadly).

Sounds like a nice send off.. but honestly.. I haven't really watched his show in years. I stumble across it from time to time and see the guests and think "why on earth is he talking to that person?" It seems to me for the past several years he's been stuck in the distant past. He's also seemed really confused at times when he's interviewing certain people.

I don't think Piers Morgan will do well in this spot. CNN has too many talk shows as it is.

I was surprised to see King's latest (number 8 or 9th) wife and their two sons on the show. I thought the wife was divorcing King for fooling around with her sister. One of King's two sons thought he was funny trying to imitate his Father. He wasn't.

As for King's replacement, I give Piers Morgan about a year before he's gone. Morgan won't be tossing out softball questions like King did therefore he won't have the caliber of guests that King did. I'm just glad that CNN didn't hire Ryan Seacrest as the new host. How that bubble-brain got to where he is today just proves there is a lack of talent in Hollywood these days.

I watched about the first ten minutes late last night (12am PT repeat) before I changed the channel...I'll echo a couple of the posters that said that Larry was great in his day. I was never a faithful viewer of Larry King Live, but I usually tuned whenever a particular guest that was of my interest appeared. His broadcasting legacy, especially helping propelling CNN into being a household name among TV networks, is cemented and he was great in what he did.

It was one of the better send-off shows I've seen.

It was very interesting seeing the big three (and Barbara Walters) news anchors in the same room together and how they interacted with each other. I doubt that has happened much before.
