How "my" stations did on New Year's Eve

La Kalle 99.1: "A"-The party never stopped on this station. Domino broadcasted live from the club, and then they mixed all night long and all day today.

97.9 The Beat: "B"-They kicked off "The Beat Bottle-Poppin Mix" at 5pm yesterday. It was good, but they stopped it at 2am, and didn't start again until noon today. Overall, I enjoyed it.

Casa 106.7: "C"- I was pretty disappointed with this station. They started mixing at 10pm last night, and I didn't even listen long enough to find out when they stopped. I do know they had already stopped by the time The Beat stopped at 2am. They did a countdown today and that was it.

106.1 Kiss Fm: "D"-I remember last year, this station took their party to the club with a live broadcast. This year, just a countdown.

K104: "F"-As usual.... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ........

Fizz-o sounded as lame as Ron Chavis' quiet storm... and on NYE, that's saying something.

Domino, if you are out there (and we know you silently are), nicely done brother. I caught some of that action and it had my head bobbin'.

Had your head bobbin'? Shoot, the La Kalle mixes had my wife dancing this morning! She was really feeling them! ;D

VDV, have you ever heard 98.7 Kiss FM in NYC? This is a very hip urban ac. They do mastermix weekends on holidays and have mixshows with legendary djs Red Alert and Chuck Chillout. I guess that will never happen here.

By the way, I'm going to upgrade The Beat's grade to an "A", because tonight, I heard alot of new and local hip hop tonight.

I didn't know 98.7 did mix shows. I had a chance to meet Jeff Foxx (host of their "Wake Up Club" morning show) a few months back. Good brother. I understand he works as APD there as well, which may explain the greatness of Red Alert and Chillout. Even heard they tried to do a thing with Grand Wizard Theodore. Can you imagine the ratings that would get?

Fizz-o better watch themselves. People are growing tired of CHEAT-em's retread playground and Driver Select sponsorships. BEAT is really doing something in Dallas.

Arent you guys Big Baby fans?

Check out some of our previous conversations on urban radio. He will do great out here, and we have said that much. But Fizz-o, eh, not so much.

I think 98.7's mastermix weekends as well as their Friday and Saturday night mixshows with Kool Dj Red Alert, Chuck Chillout, Daryl James, and Ruben Toro, make Kiss Fm a rather unique urban ac.

Is Fizz-O afraid to get a real V-O guy like Dr. Dave, Rick Party, or Eric Edwards? Is Fizz-O afraid to sound like a true hip hop station and put mixshows on. I believe their heavy street presence is what carries Fizz-O.

i was talking about the Big Baby that used to be on Casa. Word on the street is, he's about to resurface.

They must be, better yet... it's all about CHEAT-em. That's why Skip (Murphy) left Fizz-o - CHEAT-em's rather clinically enlarged ego. I wish DE was here for this one (yeah, I said that), because I would love to know how ratings do across the board for urbans during "mixing hours". At JAMZ, Thunderstorm was off the charts, but then trimmed its audience during the Club New York, New York days. Street is what hip-hop formats are about, and the more inane and cottonmouthed the jocks sound, the better. Long live the days of EZ and Greg Street.

And the day those great VO artists get in this town, is the day CHEAT-em tells DriverSelect, "Yeah, I do think you are unfortunately targeting a niche market." ;D

I think that the east coast based hip hop just has a hard time in this market. There are a couple of mix shows on XM that I like, but they are definately east coast based. Im not a big dirty south or west coast fan, but I can appreciate it.
