How often do stations update there playlist?

I listen to Jack today and it was playing the same songs they were playing a year or two ago. How often do they update. This is the same question for the other stations. I know the other stations update there playlist for new music but what about the later year hits. Like the songs from the 80's and 90's.

Jack plays the same songs over and over and over and over and I'm sick of it.
The only "new" song they've added that I've heard is "Far From Over" by Frank Stallone
(couldn't they have done any better than that?) I want to hear more
songs that are not the same old same old. What happened to that 2000 songs
or more playlist?
I don't know how often they "update" but it's not often enough.
Do something different, pd's ....we can HANDLE it and it won't
hurt your ratings! Safe and same old same old = BORING

You people keep talking about radio as if it were still alive. "It's Dead Jim." Mourn it and move on.

As a civilian I find the business of radio, interesting. I enjoy sports talk radio, but I haven't cared about radio as way to discover music in a number of years. My taste is outside of the mainstream. I read blogs and will hear some new bands on satellite radio from time to time.

It depends on the format.

CHR stations add and drop songs once a week. Same with country and hot AC. A station like Jack was designed to rotate its song list every few weeks, but they may have gotten lazy. Their consultant lives in Nashville, so he was a bit more attentive to that station in its heyday. But that was a few years ago.
