HOW SICK IS SEVERIN ???

Seems Jay Severin has been out sick more often than he has been on 96.9. What are his health problems?

Having Michael Graham Crackers as his replacement can't be helping the health of the station. Can't they get someone better. Two -a -day sessions of "Crackers" is cruel and unusual punishment...or makes you change the station which this poster does....CLICK ;)

He was out most of last week, yesterday they did a radio rewind, and now he's out again?

He must be really sick. Or else you can start calling him Vacationerino.

Maybe he's starting to regret selling his place in Sag Harbor? He spent the better part of a show a few weeks ago complaining about how bad the utilities up here are.

Or maybe he's advising his buddy, Mitt Romney, on how he can suddenly become an ultra-conservative?

Or Mitt is teaching Jimmy to use Massachusetts till he's ready for other things and then dump it like a worn-out lover.

Kind of like Brady and the lady.

As much as I've grown to dislike his on-air persona, I hope he is well. I couldn't stand reading the endless threads about who should replace him. ;)

I think he has good insight on politics, based on his experience.

Sure, some of his ideas are nuts, but why not drop the "persona" and just be himself?

Whilst it is a favorite past-time to out-pun my friends, in this case you clearly reign victorious.

I had "butternut" go any further on this one! :D ;)

He seemed to be out a lot during the summer (back when WTKK used to run Hannity, they would run Hannity live in his place) in past years. Contract with a lot of vacation time? Sometimes "personal days" or vacation
time is used and the fill in will say "the host is under the weather" (or maybe there's a contract dispute
or some other reason!)
Since I listen to Howie instead, I wouldn't even know he's out, though I think I did tune in recently just before 7 pm and I heard Graham's voice...

Same with Rush I think; it was said recently he was ill but it was pretty close to a holiday weekend, so...

Howie seems to put in a lot more time than Jay--he does take one or two weeks in summer (contrast that
to the fact that Jay seemed to take almost the whole summer off) and a week or two around Christmas
or New Year's. Sometimes he missed shows when he had to fly down to NY for stuff relating to his book
but that wasn't too many days.

Where’s Jay?
Posted by Jessica Heslam at 11:43 am

A respiratory virus has kept WTKK (96.9 FM) radio yakker Jay Severin off the air since Valentine’s Day last Wednesday.

Phil Redo, market manager for Greater Media’s Boston stations, told me he hopes Severin is back behind the mic tomorrow.

Redo talked to Severin yesterday and said he sounded “awful.”

“”It would not be a good sounding show,” Redo said.

Conservative host Michael Graham, who was bumped to mornings last fall when Severin returned to his old afternoon-drive shift, has been filling in.

I think the bigger issue is where's the Severin buzz? There isn't any anymore, he's so quiet since being rehired.

Ah, so he really is under the weather. These things going around this time of year.

By the way for those who are listening to prog talk via the skywave signal of WWKB in Buffalo:
be aware that starting this yr Daylight Saving Time starts the second sunday of March and
ends first Sun of November. Some kind of Energy Saving Act passed by Congress in '05.
So sunsets get later in a hurry.

You don't have to tell me; I listened to the entire Stephanie Miller show on Tuesday and there was NO fadeout or interference, just occasional splatter from WWZN (hard to believe). By late spring into summer, I may not be able to pick up Steph until 8:15 pm or so...but maybe by then some Boston station or a station near Boston (WCAP? WCRN? WNSH when it goes 50K?) will pick up the show.

I think "respiratory virus" is PR Flak Talk for "wrestling the gun out of his mouth".
