How To EQ a fraidy cat

You know the kind I'm talking about. Someone who punches the first syllables in her sentence and then trails off for a few beats before punching back in a word or two. Repeat this pattern for 30 seconds and you have a normalizing nightmare. Any ideas out there for solutions to this recurring small market problem??

I run in to this while recording even good VO talent. A compressor will only fix the problem a little.
I usually bump up the lower parts of a VO about 3db on a word by word or sentence by sentence
basis. Do this BEFORE you use any compression. Takes a couple minutes, but worth the extra time.
It sounds less jarring when the punchy next sentence begins.
