How to fix 105.7 The Hawk

OK, The Hawk got slaughtered in the last ratings book.

Here's the fix:

<U>SOUND LOCAL!</u>

Your city of licence is MANAHAWKIN, not Asbury Park, not Neptune, not Freehold.

You are an OCEAN COUNTY radio station, not a Monmouth County station, not a North Jersey station.

It doesn't matter how much news/weather/traffic you cover in Monmouth/Middlesex/New York, the average listener is not a 40 dBu/.1 mV DXer, therefore no matter how much you talk about the Mets and traffic on 287, nobody that far north can hear you.

Here is your LOCAL SIGNAL AREA:
FM596786.gif

Here's some information about those of us in your LOCAL AREA:
-We watch Action News on 6ABC.
-We read the Press of Atlantic City
-We commute to Camden County or Philly or Atlantic City
-We are Phillies and Eagles fans
-We live in the "609" area code
-We REALLY don't care what's going on on the Turnpike
-We COULDN'T CARE LESS what the Yankees did

I agree and disagree...
While it is a waste of time for the Hawk to give out info pertaining to areas that are out of it's broadcast area, to restrict itself to the Ocean County listening area would be counterproductive too. I pick up the Hawk fine while driving north throughout Monmouth County, including Manalapan. And talking to people who work in southern Monmouth County, they've mentioned to me how much they listen to the station.
But I see your point also about giving more due to the area around Manahawkin from which it broadcasts from. It is a glaring omission not give more nods to the Philly teams, Atlantic City, and news from that region.
You can't argue with the facts- their ratings stunk, and they have to do something to change that.

The Hawk is also in Trenton on 97.5, and in the Lehigh Valley at 99.9. They may use the same traffic data for all three stations.<P ID="signature">______________

Those Hawks are Nassau stations; 105.7 is Millennium ...

Jersey Shor is a moron. Listening for 5 minutes to the Hawk and you know they are all over Ocean County. If the Hawk is broken, how come the ratings period before this one they had their highest ratings ever?

Yeah, that big 3.7...

It was real impressive compared to NJ101.5's 7.1 that book, not to mention WABC's 5.7...

Please tell me just how many times in an average day the station's news, traffic or weather mentions anywhere south of Barnegat.

Also, please tell me just how many commercials are for businesses that have a "609" area code.

Could it be, they finally got there transmitter back up to running on all its cylinders?

I really wonder what kind of signal people expect a Class B1 FM station in Manahawkin to put out...

WKXW COVERS 100% OF DIARY PLACEMENT WITH 97.3 IN MONMOUTH OCEAN

I haven't heard anyone say anything about the fact that the whole
book looks weird. I'm SURE there was nothing wrong with the diary
placement up there, huh? We all know that the job our pals at
ARB have been doing is less than stellar. Add to that the fact that
they are likely not paying any attention to anything other than the
gross diary count in a market like that and you've got a great explanation
of why a station with a signal like that gets whacked from time to time.
Just thought I would mention something that actually AFFECTS the book
rather than trying to poke holes in the station's choice of news coverage, etc.
