How to get a gig in Nashville?

A friend called the other day and said he'd like to move to Nashville for a radio gig. Then he said, "Okay, stop laughing and think this one through. How do I get a sports talk gig in Nashville?" Frankly, I'd been out of radio for several years before I moved to Nashville and couldn't really give him any insight - heck, I'm not even sure which stations are doing sports. He's legit, a brilliant guy with an impressive radio background and some different ideas for a sports talk show, although I don't think he's done one since the newest era arrived in that format. Any suggestions from you local radio animals?

Wait for the waves to settle for the next couple of months. Get a gig in the building and wait for the change. It will come. It always does. I have learned that in this business, like real estate, location is the key. Have patience and wait for your shot. You don't want to flame like some of the talent in this market. In Nashville, it's easy to burn and fade. (Cough, cough).

And here is your first opportunity

> Wait for the waves to settle for the next couple of months.
> Get a gig in the building and wait for the change. It will
> come. It always does.

I agree 100% ... and here is your first chance to get "in the building"...
