Does Russ, or anyone else know if their is a way to play Club fm in WINAMP, I know Winamp will play some Windows media streams. If now, what about backdoor Windows media player streams, Im having trouble with their Built In player.

That makes 3 of us. I haven't been able to get their player to work for some time now (I was guessing it was because I'm still on Windows 98SE and can't upgrade to WMP 10)... another friend of mine can't get it to stream on Linux system either, using Firefox and G-xine (?) media player. I miss that breakbeat stream! :(

As far as I know you have to use Windows Media Player, but as always I have good news (I just saved a bunch of money by switching to...). Here are the backdoor links for your WMP (instead of the built in one):

Chrles, when I try to play those streams, it attempts to open in Winamp, and it says ASX1 on the display. Does anyone know if this is a problem with my configeration, or is it an error in the link. It someone isnt letting it open in Windows Media Player.

Thanks anyway, I already corrected the problem though, by reinstalling Windows Media Player 10...

CHRles,

You are a damn good hacker LOL - Thanks to CHRles, I think that about sums up all of the backdoor links for dance..... or you can visit: http://windowsmedia.com/radiotuner/FindStations.asp?locale=409&search=1club.fm

As for the WinAmp links.. we are gearing up to launch 24 new channels.. several new edm channels.... and after all channels are launched.. we will start getting into the Shoutcast (WinAmp) part of streaming :) - Im not a big fan of Shoutcast because of a few ripping programs that the avg listener can easily do... at least with wma.. it takes a little more work for the avg. listener to rip streams.

Currently, we only stream in Windows Media and its impossible for a TRUE wma stream to stream in Winamp... If you seee a station streaming in Shoutcast and Windows Media.. chances are, they are putting the .pls file inside of the .asx, which is against Windows Media TOS... which they are about to ax from their directory.

We are also set to launch 2 new websites. One will be focused on EDM ONLY (the miami scene, with 30 edm only channels.. such as dnb, classic house, classic dance, nu-school breaks, vocal trance, hard trance, hard house, deep house, soulful house, chicago house, bubblegum, true eurodance, hard dance, progressive, goa trance, happy hardcore, old school, dj mixes, classic edm, hip-hop/top 40 remixes, and several others)... Thanks to Digitally Imported's little Ishkar's Guide to EDM, we came up with a whole sh1tload of ideas for edm channels for this new site. I should probably send them an email and thank them for writing up that little website for my site.

Hope this helps! and Thanks!<P ID="signature">______________

LOL thank you thank you. I simply went into the View Source section of Club FM's built in players, and that's how I pieced it together.

Holy crap! 24 more channels??!! Unreal. What more could you possibly launch? A Polka channel? Polish Alternative Dance? Progressive Yodel? :)

Thanks CHRles! I've got breaks streaming on my PC again. :)

Now with that hurdle out of the way, I get to get down to the task of finding out why everything on my 4mb broadband connection buffers on me, regardless of how minimal the stream is... lol (about ready to smash my modem and return it comcast)

4 MB per second? That's it?!
Matt, I have Crapcast, I mean Comcast, too. The speed here is at 54 MBPS.
Take a look at the bottom right of your screen. Do you see this little computer with three bars radiating to the east/right? If so then point your mouse at it, right click your mouse, and click on repair. This should renew your IP address, and hopefully give you a faster connection.
Otherwise, don't be afraid to contact Comcast, and ask them to send someone over to give you a different/better box. Remember, you're paying THEM, and you should be getting your money's worth.

54mbps? Is that for real? That's like 8 or 9 times faster than T1, I think. I just got an email from them yesterday announcing that they were upgrading connections to 6mbps... you must be on a better plan than me or something.

Honestly, I wonder if it's just some crazy thing with my PC (it's old and I plan to replace it soon). I use the Speedtest apps on **********.com from time to time and the download tests still indicate my speed is nearly in the range of 400kb/sec. So it seems that my bandwidth should be adequate, I just don't understand why the audio is always buffering on me (even at lo-fi). Some streams do it worse than others... KTU's stream is always awful for me, while Energy AZ and Mikeo's Energy 98 seem to stream here pretty well, most of the time. All of the others come and go without reason. The only other thing I can imagine is that maybe I just have to deal with a lot of people in my area consuming some of that cable bandwidth.

Well, that's what my computer is showing - 54.0 Mbps

Well, it might be your neighbors, and it might be one other thing as well. Do you have a seperate hookup for your cable TV? or do you have a split connection wire for both your cable and internet? If you do, call Comcast and tell them you want seperate wires/hookups, as that might be part of the buffering problem.
