How WBUR kept running during Covid

A good read. Not that much different from my own experience. Fortunately, my wife (cybersecurity/IT auditor) works mostly from home and we already had a (higher) speed internet connection given the two of us did work from home on occasion (and both in zoom meetings periodically.) For the most part it was completely usable and only on rare occasions have we had difficulty. I could see, though, where people on lower-speed services would definitely have difficulty.

If we had school-age children doing 'distance leaning' we probably would have had to upgrade to the "gigabit" class internet service to handle the additional streaming requirements.

I was curious how noise-cancellation was being handled. I couldn't imagine people lining a spare room in their house with acoustical foam.

When working in a non-studio environment, there are a couple of things you can do to reduce room reflections.
1. Locate your operating position diagonally in the room (the microphone facing a corner) to minimize direct reflections from a wall.
2. Use a super-cardioid (very directional) microphone.
3. Work close to the microphone.
