How well do you know your Transmitter sites? Please answer this

Here is a list of the Channels that I receive Over The Air at my house. Now I know that in many cases more than one station uses the same transmitter site. So my question is "How many different transmitter sites do I receive Television Broadcasts from?" For example if WBZ and WSBK use the same tower than that would only count as one. You understand. I'm just trying to figure out how many different locations I'm receiving signals from. Thanks

WGBH 2, WBZ 4, WCVB 5, WLNE 6, WHDH 7, WJAR 10, WPRI 12, WFXT 25, WUNI 27, WLWC 28, WSBE 36, WSBK 38, WGBX 44, WLVI 56, WNAC 64, WBPX 68, WPXQ 69

Kinda depends on what you mean by a "site"! By my count you have 17 stations on ten different towers. Seven of those towers are concentrated in two tower "farms", one serving Boston and the other serving Providence.

BOSTON TOWER FARM:

42-18-37N/71-14-14W:
WGBH 2
WBZ 4
WCVB 5
WSBK 38
WGBX 44

42-18-41N/71-13-00W:
WHDH 7

42-18-12N/71-13-08W:
WFXT 25

42-18-10N/71-13-07W:
WLVI 56

(are the above two the same tower with a dispute over coordinates?)

42-18-27N/71-13-27W:
WBPX 68

PROVIDENCE TOWER FARM:

41-51-54N/71-17-15W:
WLNE 6
WJAR 10
WSBE 36

41-52-36N/71-16-57W:
WPRI 12
WNAC 64

OTHER SITES:

42-20-09N/71-42-55W:
WUNI 27

41-46-39N/70-55-41W:
WLWC 28

41-29-41N/71-47-06W:
WPXQ 69

10 locations. WGBH/WBZ/WCVB/WGBX/WSBK are at one common tower site, WLNE/WJAR/WSBE are at one common tower site, and WLVI/WFXT share a tower. WHDH, WPRI, WUNI, WLWC, WNAC, WBPX and WPXQ are all stand-alones.

Have you tried WMFP-DT channel 18? Or WYDN-DT channel 47? By careful finagling, I can get them north of Boston. You must be south of the City, and 18 and 47 ARE directional, but they must send some signal south.

Yes I'm South. WYDN won't be happening for me. I think I picked up WMFP a couple of times at night when conditionns were just right. But it is not a common occurence. I have turned and twisted my antenna in every possible direction. The channels I listed are pretty much all I get. Once in a while I receive ION stations Channel 26 out of Connecticut too. Maybe twice a week.

I'm in the same area as Skynet as I can receive all of the stations he listed, but I can also receive WUFT 66 with no trouble, and by moving my antenna slightly, can also receive WMFP 62 and WYDN 48. I can get a signal from WWDP 46 but barely, because the station is pretty low power from Norwell. The signal from WMFP 62 and WYDN 48 has improved since the beginning of the year.

I only have an indoor antenna "TERK amplified". This one right here. http://www.centralfloridafinancial.com/shop/images/isimages/DHHDTVI.jpg

It's actually a good antenna for the money. The stations that it won't pick up for me are the lowered power ones from Boston. It handles everything else just fine. When you includ sub-channels I can receive between 25 and 30 stations. I don't subscribe to cable because my only Option would be COX down here. They are horrible. Besides.... most of the television viewed here are the Networks anyway. It would be silly to pay for that when I can snatch them out of the air for free.

Let's see, OTA most of the Boston and Providence market stations make it quite well to my Whitman, MA QTH. The stations that don't make it quite well are WUNI, WUTF, WZMY (for obvious reasons with very low power), WYDN and WNEU. From the Providence market, WSBE is a "no show" most of the time, as well as WPXQ. WLNE is there, but just about makes it to the threshold. WUNI in Worcester used to have a strong signal here, but no more ever since the transition. I'm finding myself watching the WGBX streams more often as of late (44.2 and 44.4). I love "History Detectives", which is run often on those WGBX subs.

All in all, the strongest signals in my location would have to be WGBH (19), WBZ (30), WCVB (20), WJAR (51) and WGBX (43).

That would be 9 locations. WPRI/WNAC are co-located on one tower.
