How well do you think a triple a would do here as a commercial station?

Yes we have wfpk but i was wondering how do you all think they would do as a commercial station selling advertising and all.All people tell me here is how alternative does not sell but i would think that has more to do with the account exectutives then the format they are selling.I would think a good sales person could sell any format but triple a skews higher in demographics and wfpk does well with there fund drives but all i can go by is the alt stations we use to have here are no more Q2 105.9 gone and she 93.1 gone and wlrs 105.1 gone (so to speak) was alt for a couple of years till they went fox lite just curious if you all think louisville could support a commercial triple a station.With the right sales staff i think you could.

I think it would do very well. But no one has the balls to do it and truth be told it would have to be done better than FPK. You'd have to play the best of the best and drop a lot of the wacky stuff that no one really gets or likes but it gets played because - "Hey.. we're FPK and we're different." If QMF had the balls to tinker with its format and played new stuff from classic rock artist along with the typical classic rock staples it could boost its sagging ratings. But again, you have to find some GM, OM or PD willing to take a risk & that just doesn't happen any more.

WTTS, 92.3 is licensed to Bloomington Indiana but has a very high tower and lots of
power and can be heard quite well in INDY.

Interesting, in talking to lots of folks in Indy and asking them what station they listen
to, very many say WTTS, yet the ratings do not reflect that.

Once WITT gets on the air at 91.9, licensed to Zionsville, the triple A format will
exist to a certain extent here in INDY, but with a much wider parameter.
 
Well, in the most recent Arbs, WFPK got a 2.9 12+. In other words, it would have been barely outside the top-10. I don't know how well AAA would do as a commercial format. That's really not a lot of audience to split up, and taking audience from WFPK would be pretty tough.
 
Why would you want a commercial AAA format station? We already have a non-com AAA. With the current station, we don't have to sit through endless stopsets, worthless chatter between idiot morning hosts, and inane erectile dysfunction spots! WFPK is the perfect example of a AAA format and it's not corrupted by outside consultants or managment. You know that if a company like Clear Channel tried the AAA format, they'd screw it up anyway.
 
I live 15 miles from the WTTS 1800 ft, 33,000 watt tower, so they melt my antenna here. I dont think WTTS is all that great, it leans too adult and has too much mellow classic rock, and unknown album cuts. The best days of WTTS was in the late 80s when they were a CHR with a Rock lean, as Power 92 TTS....
 
Wfpk i wish they would get rid of some of the dinasour music they play and i can deal without the blues but they are the only place for left of center rock music in louisville. Wlrs REFUSES to be an alternative station besides if you put them on it is obvious mainline could careless about 105.1 no program director after a year and a half the hummer still says 104.3 on it and not many jocks on the station at least wfpk feeds the format in a positive way all in all but please no more when doves cry i heard that on there the other day wtf?

They already did this. The ratings sagged even more. They had to buy a bra and everything!
