How well is KGNB doing?

Just wondering how well is KGNB doing? They have a good playlist I listen to them a lot now. They play some of that good ol classic country, that you can't hear on FM any more.

Good ol' classic country that you can't hear on FM anymore? That's a broad statement. I'm sure there are many FM classic country stations, just not in your area.

They are a small community station to serve Greater New Braunfels. I think they are non profit like Simply Beautiful 91.3 out in Killeen which is Easy Listening.

They have been around for a long long time with the same format. In fact, there AM counterpart was the longest running format in New Braunfels playing 40s, 50s, and 60s music before they switched to talk in the mid 1990s. On that AM station you would hear Doris Day, Buddy Holly, and the Beatles.

They may not make a profit, but KGNB is owned by a for-profit company.

I was thinking KGNB was a non profit due to there frequency being in the lower band. But they are like KAHL not too worried about PPMs as serving the market with a niche format.

Not sure which station you're thinking of, but KGNB is 1420 AM. Their sister station is KNBT 92.1, which is in the commercial band. The non-comm band is 88.1 to 91.9.

I always get the two confused by the call letters. So the non commercial band is 88.1 to 91.9? I thought it was anything below 92.5, unless grandfathered. But I do know KGNB used to play 40s, 50s, and 60s music until at least 1994 or so.

The commercial channels are 221 and above, meaning 92.1 and up.
