How Well is WNYM 970 The Apple Doing in Ratings ?

For Salem, ratings for their conservatalkers don't matter. Stations like WNYM solely exist to advance ideology.

WNYM was never intended to be competitive, even with Curtis Sliwa in their employ.

Have it broadcast METS games as its call letters spell it out....W New York Mets. But also keep the FAN broadcasting Mets games too.

Plus the lineup would have to be mostly all-local. Sorry but I don't think New Yorkers want to hear most of FSR's dreadful daytime lineup (fed directly from KLAC/Los Angeles).

There's a reason I call FSR "SuperStation KLAC" on the Sports boards. ;)

Make that one-and-a-half! WFAN's blowtorch covers the entire NY area. Much of the NY area, particularly North and Central NJ and Suffolk County, LI cannot clearly receive WEPN. :)

Didn’t they broadcast the Mets way back when they were first WWDJ?

I believe 970 WJRZ broadcast the Mets so did WWDJ later...

Wow...what a coincidence! First of all, here in Boston, Salem TRIED all-right-wing-talk for at least a year on a station with the called letters WTTT-AM, on 1150. BTW, they weren't all that assiduous in changing antenna pattern at sunset in the last few months of this format. AM 1150 in Boston is an inferior facility even when it's running its DA-D; at night, the pattern constricts it even further! Ok, here's the coincidental paht (that's how we say it heah): after the spectacular failure of right-wing talk 24/7 (now being replicated by WXKS-AM 1200 with 50K fulltime DA-2) on 1150, they switched it to Spanish-language religious programming with the call letters WWDJ! It's been commented that Salem often uses heritage calls on some of its facilities, but these calls were never in Boston.

WJRZ broadcast the Mets from 1967-71. The 1971 season was already a month old when the station flipped to WWDJ. The '71 season would be the Mets last on 970 AM.

When the Mets started on 970 in 1967, the stations's nighttime pattern was so bad listeners in Brooklyn and Queens could barely dial in the games. The following season, Mets games were simulcast on WABC-FM 95.5 and in 1970, the simulcast went to WNBC-FM 97.1.

Baseball on FM in New York isn't unprecedented. :)
