How will PPM affect Mia/Ftl Market?

I'd love to hear David Eduardo's thoughts on how the different genre's & station will be affected from a numbers viewpoint? How has it worked in other markets? I know TSL will be down generally without diaries, but what else?

TSL goes down, cume goes up.

The niche formats suffer as they will not pick up the secondary phantom cume to the extent mass appeal staitons do.

The big players will stay at the top, but not necessarily in the same order. I think the urbans will decline, as the TSL decline will not be matched with cume growth, as the market is only 20% Black. Many general market stations that don't index well with Hispanics will go down, maybe dramatically. Power, with a coalition constituency will go up. So will Y 100. WAMR and WRTO and WMGE will go up a lot. County will be off, and perhaps the rock alternatives. AC, which does well with Hispanics, should do well. Talk, which is fragmented along language lines, can't grow in cume and will be off, probably horribly. AM shares will be off as much as a third.

That's my make believe crystal ball view.

The first pre-currency month will be an aberration, though, as the group responsible for about 15 diary shares is not encoded.

Interesting. I'm curious to see if your thoughts do come to fruition. Thank you for your input.

Curious. I thought in other markets, the news and talk stations went up? Can you confirm? I think Philly, NY and DC...but it's been a while since I paid attention

Other markets are not 50% Hispanic.

David,

Which group responsible for 15 diary shares are not encoded? Univision? If so, then how will WAMR and WRTO go up?

What about destination formats such as Majic? They do rather poorly in the diary-based ratings, but I hear them nearly everywhere I go when I'm in Miami. Will PPM reflect a much higher cume then they currently get credit for in the diary? Speaking of that, will Clear Channel's "mass appeal" strategy work at 93.9? Come on brother... fire that crystal ball back up! :)
