How WJSP-FM 88.1 Sound

Have anyone notice how the audio of 88.1 WJSP-FM down in Columbus, GA sound like recently? I'm a stickler for broadcast radio and WJSP's audio sound like that of how the old-time radio networks used to sound before the advent of satellite audio which started in 1981 (by 1984, I think all radio networks went satellite). Only in this instance, both WJSP-FM and NPR (National Public Radio) both sound like an old-time radio broadcast. I started to notice this sometime back in April, and made comparisons to WABE-FM 90.1 and the new WRAS-FM 88.5. The two that are also NPR member stations don't seem to have that old-time "network radio"-like audio. What kind of audio system is 88.1 using?

Okay, let me put it another way: The audio sound like it is phone-fed, like how radio stations used to carry news on the hour from the radio networks like NBC, CBS, ABC, and MBS (Mutual Radio) back in the early days of radio before satellite.
