How Would "Colbert" Fare At 11 PM? Or "The Daily Show"... On Fox?

These days, "The Colbert Report", airing after "The Daily Show" on Comedy Central, is attracting quite a following. And Stephen Colbert is making a name for himself. Hell, he's even got his own Ben & Jerry's ice cream variety!

With that said, could anyone foresee a scenario where "The Daily Show" might pull a "Politically Incorrect" (remember that show?) and jump to a broadcast network (I guess Fox would be the most likely taker at this point), with Comedy Central pushing "Colbert" back to 11 PM?

is it me or does Stewart on "Daily Show" look like the late Jim Varney/ Ernerst P. Worrell... 'Hey Vern!....

I suppose this would depend on whether Jon Stewart wants to continue doing "Daily Show" for the foreseeable future. Letterman will retire eventually and my guess is because of the CBS ownership of Comedy Central, "Late Show" would be offered to either Stewart or Colbert. I believe Craig Ferguson has said he doesn't want to host forever, he wants to try other things, so I'll count him out. Personally, I think Colbert is the funnier one, but how would his type of show fly on network TV. Ditto for Stewart, who has hosted a standard talk show before, on MTV and in syndication (I believe he was the replacement for Arsenio Hall.) He might not want to try again. To answer the questiopn, though, I don't see CBS letting this talent get away (especially to Fox)

I would say that Colbert's comedy material is right up there(if not exceeding) Conan & Letterman. The taped piece where he went to bootcamp was much better than anything you would see on Letterman's show and about even with Conan's stuff.

I have watched Letterman and been a fan since his morning show in 1981. It pains me to say this... but the guy should have retired about five years ago. The man never ventures out of the Ed Sullivan theater anymore. BIG MISTAKE. Letterman shines at his best when he is doing taped segments in the field and catching the regular guy on camera. Nowadays he is a just a cranky old man. :(

ROLL IT HAL!!!

Yeah, and the Obama cameo helps, doesn't it?

btw Does anyone think Palin-joke-gate will be Letterman's "Hugh Grant" in helping him gain a ratings lead?
