Howard Makes Some SIRIUS Announcements.

From www.howardstern.com 8/3/05

A caller wanted to know if Howard would be replaying his show on SIRIUS at night for people who couldn’t listen to it in the morning. Howard said he’s been thinking about that. He added that the show will start at different times on his channels for people who live on the West Coast. Artie pointed out that in two months it’ll have been a year since Howard made his announcement. Howard talked about how excited he was and said that if he was let out of his Infinity contract early, he’d start working at SIRIUS right away, despite what he said yesterday. Howard found out recently that his channels at SIRIUS will be 100, 101 and 102.

IN Demand To Televise Howard's Sirius Show!

Although not all the details are set, Howard’s new show will feature the best parts of each day’s satellite radio program which, for a small fee, could be watched anytime through the service. Best of all, nothing on the show will be edited or censored. Howard said this was the most important thing for him, because he doesn’t want to deal with censorship anymore. Since more than 20 million people already have In Demand, Howard felt it was the future of television. He added that just like his satellite show he decided to take his television program underground to start a new revolution.

Some questions arise if the inDemand deal will scuttle SIRIUS in any way. Why would people pay twice to see the show? Wouldn't some of the people just pay the inDemand and see the best parts rather than pay a SIRIUS subscription to listen to it. E! was popular for Howard for years, but this is playing off the fact that Howard's radio show was free to the masses and E! was a free channel on cable. I wouldn't shell out money for both. Depending on the inDemand price, I'd probably just buy that instead.

Right, just the best parts of the show... most of stern since 1999 is drivel and long winded... With his upcoming schedule at Sirius and only working 4 days a week and having tons of vacation, InDemand will be what I purchase, Sirius is seriously lacking quality content...and I will be done with it in January after my sub expires.

You might not care, but Stern and Mel should.
this is a bad scene asking people to shell out all this cash at once, many people might choose what they know(ON DEMAND).
I think they would be better off focusing on getting the needed amount of subscribers for SATRAD and worry about PPV later,as someone pointed out in another thread go with HBO or showtime for now.

I thought (according to Howard) that satelitte was the future. I have DirecTV. Does that mean I'm behind the times?

Howard is not the same radio diva he was in the 1980's 1990's, this deal will kill Sirius financially. Stern will spike the subs initially but eventually the same drawn out all bout Howard rants will make him IMUS Jr.
