Howard Stern Discusses New Schedule

I have seen posts by people with the show who have been let go, including Mike Trainor. There's not much reason at this point to think the cut to 1x/week isn't accurate. Now why, when he just agreed to 2x/week, is another question.

Is Howard making the cuts or SXM. And why now and not when he signed the new contract. I also wonder if they get hired back on a reduced salary.

i get the feeling that Howard is preparing for his retirement or switching to a Podcast type of schedule of once a week, and i say, he's earned it, he's getting older and now in his 70s.
You’re absolutely right.

A lot of folks would’ve preferred Stern retire after the last contract negotiations…however, I do believe Sirius retains exclusive rights to the Stern show archive and any media (including podcasts) he may produce.

Especially in the early parts of his career, he was known as a bit of a workaholic. A lot of people (my father included) are more than comfortable enough to retire, but don’t. Work is an integral part of their life and they don’t want to lose that and just be “retired”. Full retirement can be lethal for some…

…I’d imagine Stern’s in that same position. My guess is he’ll do something at least weekly until he’s physically/mentally not able to do it.
