Howard Stern trashes Dennis and Callahan

Callahan was talking about Stern today, and I didn't know why. This would explain it.

Callahan echoed my feelings on this: we both love Stern, find him entertaining, but he's become the 2010s Imus (albeit not mailing it in quite as much -- maybe because he's not on the radio as much as Imus was in the '90s) and he's nowhere near as funny as he was 20 years ago.

In the interests of fairness.....Howard, by all accounts is pretty much an "equal opportuntiy hole-ripper". Had someone sent him a tape of Toucher & Rich....chances are the Stern rant would have been about them.

That being said....I'm thoroughly enjoying Dennis & Callahan's journey "on-the-way-down".....it couldn't have happened to two more smug and arrogant individuals ;).

Think Stern's deal some yrs back was $100 million per year. But times have gotten kinda tough; I looked it up and saw in '10 his new 5 yr deal was only $80 million per year.

Wonder how much the duo some nickname Fatty and the Forehead make...

Dyeing Eye - I believe Howard was beating D and C before he moved and his departure helped them reach #1. I can't swear to it, but that is my recollection. There may have been some demographic splits, but in the demos that mattered, Howard won men, Matty won women and I think adults were close.

I'm no fan of Stern, but that was hilarious, despite the fact he repeats himself numerous times. I hope D&C heard the clip.

Jerry Callahan is an arrogant, ignorant racist SOB. He deserved this flaming he got!

Never listened to D&C in the 4 years I was in Boston... but just hearing that puking, yucking "gud mornin' evrahbuddy" DJ voice is enough to keep me from ever listening.

I don't get the appeal of Stern. "Let's play throw the bologna on the stripper's ass. Ha ha ha ha ha". On the RADIO.

Theater of the mind.

The theater of the mind was much more active when Stern was on terrestrial radio. I think he lost a lot from his show when he stopped having to worry about the seven dirty words. Of course, he also lost a lot from his show when he went from suburban dad to city-living playboy.

Terrestrial Stern as "suburban husband?'

Good to know. I will now ask for permission to ask as a Stern-type "suburban husband."

I'll let you know the Mrs. response.

Right On
