HOWARD STERN vs. THE REGULAR GUYS

On a recent broadcast HOWARD STERN was very excited because he will soon have a national radio audience. Stern noted the folks in Atlanta never had the chance to hear him on their radio.

Will the Regular Guys take the biggest hit?

We're talking Sirius Radio here. It has about 3 million subscribers nationwide. That means maybe 50,000 subscribers in metro Atlanta. The percentage of those who might be interested in Stern might be 15% at most. That is 7,500 people.

The Regular Guys can easily draw 200,000 listeners a week.

Do the math.

La La Land

You think the regular guys draw 200,000 different listeners a week? Are you serious? If they are lucky they have a cume of 30 to 40 thousand and that is probably a very high guess.

I apologize. I was using a number from my memories 18 months ago.
I wrote a page one profile for the AJC on the Regular Guys in March 2004. Their weekly cume at the time was 200,000 a week. Based on the summer 2005 Arbitrons, they have only gotten back about 2/3 of those listeners. So that's maybe about 135,000 listeners a week, more than three times your estimate.

Re: La La Land

I am sure you would only promote the facts about the regular guys. You seem to be a strong promoter of their show in your articles. They are lucky to have somebody at the ajc in their pocket.

Let me guess: you're not a fan?

Yes, I am a fan, but I don't have an agenda to exaggerate the facts as you do.

I think he would probably have a better grasp on the facts than you do. And as far as people flocking to Stern, I feel most of his fans will be realy let down when he comes on the air.
______________
I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day

Sorry, Rodney, but I gotta go with Larry on this one. After reading this board for the past few years, it's clear that you have some sort of fawning fascination with the Regular Guys. Most of the attacks that posters have made against you are bogus, but this particular one is right on the mark.

"Fawning Fascination"? It's more like a massive man crush on Larry. The story goes that when Rodney was in Jr. High, he interviewed Larry at a Long Island radio station for a class assignement. Since then, Rodney has had a crush on Larry. In fact, in Rodney's pre-nup there is a paragraph addressing the unlikely event that if Larry becomes available, Mrs. Rodney will have to grant an uncontested divorce. She gets the apartment, he gets the radio around his neck.

I hate to agree with the masses but where the Guys are concerned, Rodney does show a little favoritism.
______________
