Howie Back on WRKO on Friday

quitters never win and winners never quit.

Thus, Howie Carr is the loser. Oh he's got his money, all right, but he doesn't have what he wants in life.

boo hoo. Gotta take orders from jason & julie...boo hoo hoo "poor baby", as the late Norma nathan would say.

Norma would have a FIELD DAY with this, she didn't give a you know what about Howie's desk being down the hall...unlike Jessica and the Track Shills...I mean the Track Gals. Matt damon cute? he's a nuisance.
Give me a Red Sox player ANY DAY over Matt Damon. Track Gals have no imagination. Howie can have them.

Avi Nelson announced this morning that he would be filling in for Howie three days next week,,,,,,,I doubt Howie will come back tomorrow, it's Friday, why bother for one day. Not sure what the hold up is on getting Howie back on the air, I'm sure there are fine details to hammer out, like shortening his current contract, $$ issues, etc. :)

Howie will be back tomorrow. The contract was not shortened. All details have been worked out. There is a press release to that effect that has already gone out.

Howie will be back...Imus will be back...

Air America/prog talk? still not down for breakfast

Despite the pay, Howie has my sympathies working for Coffee Boy and The Empress, and working alongside
The Felon. So WRKO has one big bat in their lineup alongside some light-hitters and crappy pitchers...
But the Sox (LIVE from JAPAN!) are just a few short months away from returning. OK, a few LONG
WINTER months away.

At last! No more Toad Feinbore in the afternoon! At least not for awhile, we hope.

Poor Raccoon doesn't understand that when Fox News is involved in trying to push a Republican Candidate for President, there will be no Air America. It is called censorship and blacklisting. As soon as you wake up and smell the coffee instead of the Bush-flavored Kool Aid, the sooner you can ask us to take you seriously.

Hey, Raccoon, how are those NPR numbers in Boston? They don't have The Red Sox, but we'd venture a guess they are light years ahead of "The Talk Station", with or without Howie Carr.

And when will Michael Graham Crackers go back to .... well will he replace Michelle McPhee when TKK brings back IMUS.

How 'bout Graham 7P to 10p better than a delayed Billo.

I think WTKK would prefer to be local in the daytime so I don't think they'd want Graham on at night.

The success of NPR is probably a good reason why AAR/Jones shows haven't caught on. Why listen
to Hartmann or Schulz when you have Talk of the Nation, Terry Gross, etc.? On stations much
more powerful (see WBUR) than scratchy AM signals.

Poor Jane doesn't realize that bringing back the Fairness Doctrine (effectively killing
freedom of the press for broadcasters) would kill off all talk radio, in the end...in the effort to
help elect Dems (that and giving licenses to illegals, who would probably vote Dem--right, Elliot
and Hillary? Boy Slick Hilly really did a Kerry on that issue this week eh :)

If Fox News is pushing a Republican/conservative agenda (actually it's more of a tabloid news agenda
these days), then shouldn't AAR/Jones/NPR/NBC/MSNBC/CBS/NY Times/Boston Globe-Democrat be accused of pushing a Dem/liberal agenda? Fairness Doctrine in newspapers: NYT and BG-Democrat must carry
50 per cent conservative content. That's fair.

btw "Jane" I'm eating better and bringing my BS* down these days :)

*--blood sugar :)

This just in Howie, will go back to WRKO tomorrow, wow he actually gave up.

...and your source on this is...??????
Ha, how dare you doubt me, that was straight from entercom

Will WCRN take him back? Listeners to the west of Boston have to deal with 'RKO's signal dropping at
sunset, very early this time of year.
Poss.? Stolz 2-5 pm, Howie 5-7...?

From WRKO e-mail:

HOWIE CARR RETURNS TO WRKO
BOSTON, MA (November 15, 2007) – Boston's Talk Station, WRKO AM 680
and Howie Carr announced today that he will return to his afternoon
drive-time show on Friday, November 16.
"We are thrilled that Howie is back on WRKO," said Entercom New England
Vice President and Market Manager Julie Kahn. "Howie is a
one-of-a-kind talent, and I'm sure all of Howie's listeners are looking forward to
hearing him on our air again."
Carr returns to his 3 p.m. – 7 p.m. slot, where he gives his
inimitable take on local and national politics and current events. Carr's
contract runs through 2012.
"I'm very happy to be reunited with my loyal listeners on WRKO. I said
I'd be back on the air before Imus and now I am!"

Ah, Joe, conspiracy theories abound!

Where are the black helicopters?

As I said many times, Howie never wanted AM Drive. It was one of the many red herrings in this fishy tale.

Fairness doctine = keeping conservative points of view off the air

Keith, I've said that from the beginning the issues of AM drive and FM signal (as well as Finneran) were immaterial and it appears I was right. Doubt me if you like, but if you check my track record on this board, it's pretty good.

But you seem to want people to take your word as some authority on a lot of things....not just this one.

If you have some reason to be an authority on this or any radio issue, let it be known.

If not, don't be surprised if people just accept you as another anonymous poster....expressing your own thoughts.
