It's so unlistenable that Entercom forced him to renew, twice, and perhaps it could happen again by the end of this year.
RKO's ratings are low but what else do they do? Stay cons talk and go with someone a bit younger and hepper? (Howie is 10 yrs older than me--he's now 62) How about satisfying the "we want syndie" crowd and going for Hannity or Savage?
And clearly there are no "progressives" in Boston, or else RKO would be running Thom Hartmann or something.
Run some more ads for Geritol and Belmont Medical Center and hear Howie talk about Obamacare, our crappy weather,
death pool, Gov Patrick, et al--if there's an alternative, Entercom hasn't found it so he must be bringing them some money.
Maybe WEEI's stellar ratings are helping to finance RKO (you know...their highest point in the past year was the same as the lowest point for 98.5 acc to a chart). So, RKO has the excitingk Jeff Kuhner, some brokered biz radio, Talent On Loan from Oxys, Howie, the mellow Mark Levin, then what, Bohannon then UFO talk? Clearly they are Boston's highest rated all talk station!
Because they're...the only all talk station
Phoning in his show? Maybe he should phone it in from Florida...the southern command! What happens to Howie when the contract runs out and he goes elsewhere? Where does he go? Maybe WBUR or WGBH can take him--after all, if they can hire Eagan and Braude, surely Howie could wind up there. .. Not

What are the odds that Marconi-equipment RKO
takes him back again?
Some callers actually have put Howie in the death pool when he does that. I guess Sandy would have to host if it were to happen. And oh, how about Don Imus? Don't know how old HE is [Update: I looked it up, 73 years young]but he was right on target when he said he heard WOR was hiring Scott Shannon, eh? HA! You can hear him here on the N. Shore as WZAN 970 Portland ME comes in across the water.
He even does some pre-recorded local ads. Right in the town where Howie was born and attended grammar school, ayuh.
