Howie Carr?

Forgive my ignorance but does anyone know what the deal is with his contract?

I remember his suspension in 2010, the lawsuit a few years before, when does that end with WRKO and what do people think he will be doing?

I spend a lot of time in NH & Maine and he has a tremendous following in northern New England

Contract up in Sept or maybe Nov and he'd like to go elsewhere like 96.9 or 1200 but not sure if RKO can force him to stay (tried to leave in 07). If he leaves he's still have his network--good relations with people like Cary Pahigian at WGAN. Sometimes complains about lousy equipment, RKO signal etc. Who knows may stay at RKO if they offer best deal or can force him to stay. Maybe they can force him to do 2 more years.
Pluses of talk radio include--people listen for long periods of time spent listening, loyal
Minuses--demos trending older (Howie himself is now 60), not as desirable to advertisers. Does have a fairly big following but talk shows again often have an aging demo.

As did WODS hence the switch

The older the better! I'm 32 and I can relate to him much better than these clowns on the fm morning talk shows----!

I want to put a bullet in my head when I turn on 104.5 or 94.5 in the mornings.........!!

Speaking of mornings---- I'm REALLY missing Laura on WRKO---- Someone good needs to come in to replace her...! Glenn Beck is a laughing hyena, and Barry just talks like everything is fine when the economy is totally F***ed.....

I mean seriously- I have no choice but to listen to AM740 WJIB from 8-12 before Rush comes on....

WFEA is alright to, but they lean more on the contemporary side....

Jay.
