Howie Carr's book coming out...next yr?

Howie Carr mentioned last year that he had been signed to write a book about the Boston mob/Bulger brothers and it would be out in "2005" but a quick check of
amazon.com shows it's supposed to come out NEXT year. But who knows how accurate this info is. Carr is due to talk about the book at some kind of forum next

What is interesting is that there is a GREAT new book out
THE LEGENDS OF WINTER HILL by local area writer Jay Atkinson and
Howie Carr seems to have ignored this important work written through the eyes of the good guys - the cops.


It has reached Top 10 status in The Boston Globe for many weeks (don't know where it is this month), though in the top 40,000 on Amazon

Why won't Howie Carr have an author on his show who has the other side of the story? Probably because the fellow is a much better writer. Or maybe the fact that Carr got scooped. Well researched with no hyperbole. It's the real deal.

Admittedly it might have been better had it been commissioned then/written then, etc. I know BLACK MASS covered the subject well (heard book-on-tape version from the library). If anything one "mob body" that still might not show up by the
book's publication would be James Bulger himself.

I heard about this book, too. Yeah maybe Howie doesn't want people to buy this book instead of his own! I noticed amazon had a way you could pre-order the book, at a significant discount, but if it isn't gonna be out for another 9 months or so....
