HOWIE CHIZEK - WNIR

Very sad. RIP, Howie.

Also...WNIR evening host Tom Erickson is in the hospital. Prayers for Tom as well. Not sure what Tom's condition is....wishing him the best.

Howie was a class act. Total gentleman. He was on a flight with underprivileged kids taking them to Disney World like he did every year with no fanfare at all. May he rest in peace. I will miss his show on WNIR.

Howie's passing is a very sad thing for his family, friends, and thousands of listeners, and Bill and Bob Klaus, the owners of WNIR.

The station has a huge, challenging task to find his permanent replacement.

In 2012, with so many stations all over the country running network talk with little or no local hosts...thus, there's not a lot of young, talented talk show hosts working on their craft in smaller markets. So, finding a replacement for any talk show icon who leaves his/her show for any reason is now much, much more difficult.

May Mr. Chizek RIP.
