Howie is suing WRKO

and thanks to you for letting us know. Howie could be off air for awhile, perhaps forever, on WRKO
as this gets settled...another Severin situation..?
poss. fill in hosts or maybe 'RKO could pick up Hannity (or run Doyle live)--but what about the
affiliates? what a mess

article says Howie gave them "two more extension deadlines" but Hokey Wolf* (or was it his
sidekick Dingaling?) wouldn't budge, I guess.

Brian Maloney got an email from an 'RKO insider:
"Brian, it looks like the house of cards is falling down! Julie Kahn, Jim Rushton and Jason Wolfe found out about the 96.9 deal on the Herald website, they had no clue until it was mentioned to them. Julie was heard telling Jason in a closed door meeting that his neck is on the line if Howie walks...."{

Maybe this is an overly simplistic interpretation, but if you are working WITHOUT a contract and you have given your employer THREE opportunities to sign said contract, then what's Wolfe bitching about and whining about? If he really wanted Carr, why not sign the thing back in March? The delays only gave Carr some pause...and the opportunity to go elsewhere. There is NO leg for an employer to stand on if they (A) don't sign an employee to a contract even after three opportunities to do so, and (B) try to insist upon some 'non-compete' clause. They want to have their cake and eat it too by not signing Carr and ALSO keeping him from going elsewhere? I guess in some lands they call that 'kidnapping.'

Those people at WRKO are several McNuggets short of a Happy Meal.

A lawsuit means it is over. Carr won't be down for Breakfast at the Guest Street Suites anytime soon.

Howie Carr says he has NEVER SUED anyone and only been sued.

Well, he's either a hypocrite or it's a first for him.

"Your honor, as a Plaintiff Mr. Carr is a first time caller...

Howie wants the FM and he's not going back to Finneran land.

Can you blame him? They took his airtime for the Red Sox, they hired Finneran, and
they gave him Jeff Katz in the morning...a bad morning show makes it doubly hard to get ratings.

>>If he really wanted Carr, why not sign the thing back in March?

exactly. They had their chances and now are panicking, once they realize--wow, he really DID leave us!

Howie didn't sue; technically his wife (with attorney Alan Dershowitz) sued Imus.

Carr explains in THE BROTHERS BULGER (page viii of the preface) that, in full disclosure, his
attorney Bob Popeo also represented Billy Bulger and John Connolly at various times. Howie's
tax returns were investigated by the IRS and Mass DOR and Popeo represented him. HC
feels that these investigations were politically motivated and no charges ever got filed.

"Harvard Law School Prof. Alan Dershowitz, who is mentioned here...represented my wife in a 1998
libel action against two broadcast networks and radio talk show host Don Imus. That lawsuit
was settled out of court."

Which makes it sound like the accuser in that case was Kathy Carr, not Howie Carr.

You KNEW somin' was up when he took a shot at..."Sales managers (that [EDIT]Rushton)...who have never made a cold call" in H's last column before he screwed to Palm Beach!......Nice "one" in the hat! .....but nothing for "Hatchet Face" and her Knome?...... ;D

[EDIT-profanity]

Well, that is why Julie is known as Julie "The Executioner" Kahn but she should know the axe swings both ways.

My boss and I were talking about his moving today and he wondered if Entercom would allow him to stay on the air or not? I said yes they would because he is a big money draw. This latest turn of events changes that whole scenerio though. He's done at RKO!
