Howie, Jay, Big O on Talkers Heavy Hundred 2008

A subjective list? Influenced by advertisers? A power rankings rather than who's really the best?
Whatever it is, the TALKERS' magazine heavy 100 is out. Howie at #51, Jay at #53. Hey
Ordwayyyyyyyyyyy! at #91. Graham is among the hosts bubbling under the Top 100.

Various syndie talkers from ABC/Citadel, Westwood One, TalkRadioNetwork, Salem, Jones,
Air America, FoxNewsTalk, WOR Network, etc. show up as do some one-station-wonders like Dan Yorke (WPRO)
and Mike "Hello, you're in the air" Trivisonno (WTAM Cle.)

Who knows? And who really cares, except for the folks on it.

The compilers of any list that ranks by 'order of importance' and places people like Dave Ramsey, the Lauras, Schultz, and Boortz ahead of Stern (one of two guys, Limbaugh being the other, who actually changed the talk radio industry) should be worrying about the DEA coming by to sniff the ashtrays.

And, yes, like any 'best of' list, it is part of the mag's ad sales kit.

TSB

Hey where's Finneran on the list? For he's a jolly good felon!

Newsbusters, a right-leaning media criticism site, mentions the dominance of conservative talkers. There
are comments about this list there and on Free Republic and some on FR say just wait until the Dems
get full dominance next year, and back comes the Fairness Doctrine. Now, whether or not it would
result in conserv talkers losing their jobs or not, who's to say, but who will be appointed by the
Ministry of Truth to oversee talk radio? (Big Brother Is Listening To You!) :) Well, if they mandate
a lib talker for each conservative talker on radio, it should apply to TV too. Get ready for Olby and Coulter!
The CBS Evening News with Katie Couric and Rush Limbaugh. Apply it to entertainment shows, too;
have Bernie Goldberg and Dennis Miller as nightly regulars on Letterman... :)

Or people are commenting on how much they DON'T like Sean, or that Savage should be higher, etc

I used to read the list, it's rather pointless now. While I listen to a few I can honestly say there is only one host I enjoy hearing and he's a weekend guy.
The state of the business isn't good.

* "wonders like Dan Yorke (WPRO)" I bet DePietro was first to congradulate him!
