Howie lunches with possible future co-workers...?

http://howiecarr.us/2012/03/05/no-static-at-all/

Pic caption:
>>Howie and Herald colleague Michael Graham enjoying a superb lunch this afternoon at the new Smith & Wollensky’s on the waterfront. Joining them was former WRKO producer Tom Shattuck, who now works somewhere in Dorchester. Wonder what they all talked about?

Hint! Hint! (I don't often listen to WTKK but I think Shattuck is "the great and powerful Tom".
Wonder if Howie, IF, IF, IF he gets hired by WTKK would get the afternoon slot and Graham
gets a diff. slot. )

If it happened--maybe?
6-10a Jim and Margery
10-noon Doug Meehan
12-3 M. Smerconish
3-7 pm Howie Carr
7-10p Michael Graham

You never know.

How about putting Michael Graham in AM drive so that Jim and Margery can work full time on the Obama campaign?

Ha...TKK does seem to love them though (as does my liberal sister). As for Howie, those various medical procedures were to help him look better on his book tours--and yes, they WERE comps in exchange for advertising

Howie is attempting to do a live show from a duckboat today but it's been plagued by technical
difficulties. Right now they're re-running Howie's segment with The Donald from yesterday. Any of us in radio can relate to tech. difficulties; Howie of course got another dig in at his employer with
"Wait a minute, I gotta scrape this bit of Entercom off my shoe."

They're sticking with him though no matter how much he may whine. They have ads to run and a station, despite lower ratings, that has no plans of changing. Will they pursue a renewal of
the contract? Will they stay with talk if he goes? (Hey, they still have Finneran and the other guy.) Whatever, no matter what he says I don't
see Entercom grounding him (though at one point they did...publicity stunt?) and the people
that do care are the regular listeners who would follow him to 96.9 or 1200 should he move there.

Maybe the Duckboat Disaster was due to an outside company providing the remote, but he
still took it out on Entercom to further his cause.

Eleven thousand posts

Most of them carrying water for Howie Carr

Not one of them ever advancing the conversation

Tis a puzzlement.

Regards,
TSB

Actually only a few carrying water for Howie--but did you know my sign is Aquarius, the water bearer? And they do advance the conversation.

Regards,

btw Yesterday someone joked on Howie's show that Catherine Grieg might be out of jail (poss. 32 month sentence) before Howie "finishes his". Howie said yes, "if they pick up my contract again." So we're back to a situation of Ent. has right to renew and he can't do anything about it? Or can his lawyers break him out...Does HC think taking down Ent. will sour them toward him?

Right on the money, TSB. It is all about getting the last word.
No matter what...

As they say, here are the facts-on-the-grpund

Howie is currently working for the only station in town which is going to pay him what he's making. They made him look like a doofus during his last contract kerfluffle, and he's still sore.

He is working on his last big-money contract. He can have lunch with Guglielmo Marconi but it won't change the fact that there is no serious competition for his services.

X makes $ X per year. He's a hack.
X won't be coming down to breakfast. ::)

There. Now there is absolutely no reason to ever listen again.
And many thousands of posts from the inexperienced and uninformed
will never change that. The attempt at the last word should be due in at any time now... ::) ::)

31 years on the air, me. What say you?

I do appreciate that both WLYN and WMWM offer a chance for ethnic broadcasters to work at a legit station rather than set up a pirate, not that it necessarily stops the likes of the ex-band pirates* or the recent Sp.-lang. 89.3 I heard. but hopefully it makes it less likely they'd go the pirate route, As for Howie, he may well indeed stay at 680 but he has hinted at being able to move. But again if Ent. picking his contract up again automatically chains him to MCI Guest St., why does he even bother to hint? Does he think the Marconi remarks will tick off the employer enough to refuse to pick him up again?
Maybe it's a false hope but here he is wanting to go elsewhere but the bosses he hates say, not so fast, fried clam man.

*--and I do encourage them to do so rather than go illegal

Raccoon, I didn't realize you were in radio. I thought you worked at the Post Office?
