Howie pre-emption on flagship station today

Howie Carr will be pre-empted on WRKO today due to a 3 pm Celtics game but he will still be doing his show for his affiliates (and WRKO will join in progress
once the game is done). He mentioned on Fri. (and apologized for this, out of his control) that people in 'RKO's signal area can TRY to pick up WEIM 1280 or
WXTK 95.1 (no stations in Prov., Worcester, or southern NH...though I have
picked up WTPL 107.7 while up in Haverhill area)...but he did say he'd be
on wrko.com/howiecarr.com

And of course the site rebroadcasts his show at 1 am later tonite. Suggestion
to 'RKO: Re-air the part we'd be missing at 7 pm tonight instead of
Taste of Boston, or better yet next Sat. morning since they've been rebroadcasting Howie for a couple hours, run it then.

whatever Howie says in that lost time doesn't matter.

We've heard it all before.. over and over and over again.

And if it is really anything new, we can read it in the Herald as most of his writings are just recaps of what was said on his show. He even has people call in to supply material. Talk about phoning it in!

If they ran a "best of" tape ( ya I know tape.. audio vault is more like it)
and didn't disclose it would we know? Kinda like when WBZ played the wrong news one late night last year and the only way someone caught it was the sports scores were wrong.

RKO has really gone town the tubes IMHO

Still Won't Help Graham "Crackers"

The preemption of Howie Carr today still won't help Michael Graham.
White noise probably gets higher ratings. What a disaster.

Talk about phoning it in!

I still think he's worth listening to.

Yeah look at the latest ratings. They're what, in 13th place? What...SEVENTH?
Highest ratings of an all-talk station in town? (And if you count sports
talk in with reg. talk, consider that their sister station is a solid second.)

Drats!!......

I wanted to ask Max Robbins if "Make Room For Daddy" would be coming back anytime soon! ;) See Ya!...... P.S. Dear Sandy, How's that H57 Hoodia workin' for ya?

Leave Sandy aka Nancy Shack alone.

Howie, meet "Mike"...

Try one of his other stations, if they come in, or online.

Here's an idea I had so crazy it just might work: Today, and today only,
pot down the computer playing Mike on 93.7 and plug in...Howie! Have the
Mike Announcer Guy say, "Mike isn't Mike this afternoon. He's Howie.
Don't forget, Mike comes back tonight...and if you like Howie, tune to
AM 680." Cross-promote: Play bits of Mike music during the ad breaks,
and, during the 'RKO Celts game, advertise that Howie is on 93.7, today only.

And if the Mike format tanks in a while, try putting WRKO on 93.7 either
as a simulcast or permanent move. "The new WRKO-FM, 93.7."

Yeah, she's mourning the elimination of her Redskins from the playoffs...
How's this for ironic? I'm doing an aircheck of WODS for a tape trader
out West (on mini disc) and what are they playing now but Howie's longtime
theme, by a certain British band who's playing at the Super Bowl.
"No, no, no...hey hey hey. That's what I say. I can't GET no...
satisfaction..."

Isn't 93.7 the FM component of the formerly-Lawrence 680, anyhow?

Given the state of both of Entercom's FM's, how about 93.7 WRKO (which could put WTKK out of it's misery at this rate) and 107.3 WEEI? And keep the AMs simulcasting to fill in the gaps in the FM coverage areas.

yes, going way back

That could work. And WTKK could change to a Mike-type format maybe if need be!
You could even have some separation:

3-7 pm Howie on both AM (680) and FM (93.7)
7-10 pm Have Taste of Boston on AM and pick up Hannity and run him on FM
10pm-1 am Have Savage on AM and maybe Phil Hendrie on FM
etc.

Wondering...if WNSH changed to a country format could we refer to
them as The Beverly Hillbillies? :)

This is where the web comes in.

How about an MP3 with commericals so I don't have to be tied to the PC to listen? They do want people to use the website, no?
