Yep, for once you are right finally NOCK!!! Much love, my friend. At least it's not some washed-up jazz format. Oh, now. ;D

When you get your station up and running please let me know. If you need any oldies cd's I'll be happy to let you use them. I have over 400, from Motown, to the Beatles, to Elvis and everything in-between. :)

thanks..i have them all by now.. my playlist will run for 8 days 24/7 without repeating a song....about 4000 in all ..someone b] HAS [/b] to be the arbitrator of this genre'..since no one seemed to want it..i deemed it my responsibility to save and play them all..i'm mad i tell you..quite mad... ;D

This is a bit off the subject, but I have noticed that when I scan in 100.1 it's saying OLDIES 100.1 WRLT-FM. I have never
noticed that until this week. Inquiring minds would like to know. It sounds almost modern "oldies" AC these days... but still.

Not out here, but we all know how you feel about us outside of Davidson County.

Nock

You do need your own board, now don't you Nock.... you're that big time. <<< I really do mean that.

Let's get you settled back in the promised land. Is there even radio way out there? Other than WMRO, of course? ++++

What was you're name again, sir? Zip code? LMAO

The guy's name is Steve Wolf. I know that he has been running WOLF-FM, which has always been internet only at least since 2000 when I first found it. When I was living in Hendersonville sometime between 2000-2001, he launched Howlin' Oldies (was listening when he launched it). I think it was on a major holiday, like New Years or something.

To answer a question in a previous post, he is blind. His history was/is posted on the WOLF-FM site.

WOLF-FM sometime in 2002 or so (although I could be wrong on the exact year) moved service from Shoutcast to streaming using Abacast. He then kept a low bitrate mp3 stream on Shoutcast for those who then could play the Windows Media Stream through Abacast.

After 2003 I don't know exactly what happened to the netcast.

How does he get around paying ASCAP, BMI, etc or does he have to pay those fees? Seems like if he had to, the fees would eat him alive.

I don't know anymore about it after '03. Once he started advertising and a fail attempt by his listeners to get him on XM, he switched to Abacast and after that, I stopped listening. He had started to advertise on the stream in 2001, but it was very little. Other than that, I really don't know.

Go ahead...Put on a station that minimizes the hits and plays the stiffs...and see how few listeners you'll have.

But, don't misread what I'm saying here. It's possible to sprinkle in the "Oh wow" stuff provided you also play the hits. But, trying to reinvent the format, as some people attempt on some internet and LP-FM style formats often do not work because too much time is spent on playing the stuff few other than record collectors and radiophilles want to hear, and not enough time playing the stuff "average joe" wants to hear.
